And there's your lock...

The guy who is walking directly in front of him seems like he may be involved. He hangs around and talks to the girl who is reporting it.

(Thief cuts a lock, in broad daylight, on Valencia.)

Until we all care, no one cares.

It is so quick and easy to cut a lock or chain or cable, it is astounding that normal folk think these things are protection.

Course normal folk aren't steel workers, and don't know (have experience with) Cutting torches...And that the cutting torch is made so small it will fit in the cargo pocket on the leg of Jeans now.

And of course it's a lost cause to try to wise anyone up...:laughing

What exactly do you think you'd accomplish?

"Hey your lock does nothing to stop a determined thief"

"Oh well...I guess I should leave it unlocked for any old thief then?"

There are only so many reasonable tools in the toolbox.

The girl in the end is lucky. I am quiet sure the black dude is working with the thief on that one (you see them coming together at the beginning, and as soon as she step in, he comes to talk to her).

Disgusting.

Don't get me wrong, I don't leave my stuff unlocked.

I was merely struck by the (non) reactions of the non-thieves in the clip.

I've got a tool in the tool box... It has worked for 60 Years, and at every place I've lived
(which includes the Bay Area, Salinas, and LA).

Your two options don't cut it (WORK).

Not every asshole thief will have powertools on hand. I'd still use a lock to stop the less ambitious lowlifes.

Damm shit fuck brazen thieving scum

It is societies' fault. We should give crack heads free crack.

I would honestly rather give crackheads all the crack they want free of charge, within the confines of a specific holding area, than deal with their bullshit associated with procuring, taking, and funding their drugs out in public.

I doubt those gentlemen are crackheads though; stealing bikes is just their (sorry excuse for a) job.
