I remember the news story on this.
I believe it is the black platform under the propeller section.
 
Yea, looks like that rig you can see the little holes of light in as the boat goes in to the water. Apparently it didn't handle the stresses too well.
 
Think I read it's wood pallets that the boat is resting on, designed to get crushed, just not shattered and launched like that.
 
Reminds me of an old Air Force veteran that I used to work for:

I would probably dismount and ask the officer to check if the fan was on so that his K9 could breath. Nice curb jump btw.
