In addition to the other posted reasons, it looks to me to be a classic "early apex" resulting in him running out of road on corner exit.

Yeah no doubt those lions were idiots to fall for that. How stupid they must have felt when they tried eating that head.
 
We laugh at that little dog chasing those huge creatures away, but think, if you were in the water and a fish the size of that dog, with the same teeth started swimming directly at you chomping down in your direction, you'd probably react the same way and most likely scream like a little girl
