Anti Fog trick

That works too. Although, I've found it doesn't "last" as long as the shaving cream thing.

But, whatever gets the job done.

Thought I mentioned the spit / lotion thing early in this thread:cool

The spit thing, as noted supra, comes from diving experience and works. The lotion / shaving cream / soap from a guy at the counter at Heavenly Valley ski resort. Goggles were fogging up back in the early 70's. Went in to pick up some no fog stuff. Picked up a very small container of the stuff and commented that it smelled like dish washing detergent. Guy said it was:laughing

I have been using a pinlock for a couple weeks now for the first time ever. Very good results, I am impressed! HOWEVER... I just discovered tonight that the dual layers of shield also create dual light reflections at night, a little distracting. Do you ever get used to that?

Yes.

I crack my faceshield whenever I'm at a stoplight. On days where fogging is a problem, I make sure to keep the vents open, and flip my shield up at stoplights....get rolling again, put it down and its never a problem. As long as I'm rolling at 30 or faster, my shield won't fog....its below that or waiting at lights when the airflow isn't there that I have problems.

Dog shit is the best anti-fog substance.

You only need to apply once and your visor will be fog free forever. It has something to do with the natural oils found in the canine intestinal tract. You can't argue with science. :party

...OR you can just crack your visor.

Well, if you all would just ride with beanie helmets or cool half helmets there wouldn't be this issue. duh...

I don't have shaving cream, so I just tried to use my electric razor on my shield. People were looking at me at the stop light as I was moving it around my shield.

Glasses still fog...........

Guess i need to borrow the pup.

That is what a bandanna or one of those cool skeleton masks are for. Helmets are not there for protection, there are accessories. So, accessorize! BLING BAYBEH... BLING!!!!

Now, where is my Bedazzler...

can anyone else confirm if the shaving cream thing works?

Try it and report back. :thumbup

What I'm wondering... Do we have to use premium stuff like Gilette Creamy, or can we cheap out and use Barbesol Beard Buster?

Well, if you have a $3 helmet, use $3 cream... :teeth

Those masks have never worked on any helmet I've owned. I'll keep my wipes.

For the first 3 minutes or so I thought it worked because, even though I blew air up on to the visor, it did not fog up. However, later on it did and I had to stop and wipe the inside or I would have crashed.

So, I don't know how it works for the OP.

I think some of you guys don't have proper ventilation in you helmets. I don't even have to apply fog treatments until around mid January when it dips below 30 at the house before I leave for work. Ventilation is the key.

Instead of spending money on shaving cream, use spit. Not a big luggie, just some saliva, rub it around with your fingers and dab off the excess.

I tried the saliva method - licked my prescription eye glasses - didn't seem to work at all. Plus it was gross and smelled bad. :(

On the pinlock insert you can see "DAYTIME-use only" - must be a liability disclaimer. I use it day and night. Compared to being all fogged up, a bit of dual light reflections at night is nothing.

Been using this trick hundreds of times over 11 years on my helmet and even longer with my dive mask. Never had to try anything else since it works and the price is nice.

The added benefit is that is creeps out my coworkers.

Seems you have it mixed up a bit, if I rode with flames all over me and the bike, I don't think fog would rank way up there in basic concerns..:teeth

hmm, got me wondering if it would work similarly at work, apply to the boss and he would stop haranguing me about science..wait, maybe I got that wrong..apply it to his intestinal tract so he stops using his natural oils to keep his cow lick down..no, wait, i got it, apply it to the soles of his shoes so we can keep track of where he goes all day...

I have reason to believe that all three applications will work as intended. :rofl

The wonders of the poo are many. :twofinger

So, don't I have to open the vents to allow ventilation? If so, my face would feel cold, yes? Yesterday, I was freezing when I did the above experiment.

How would I have ventilation, prevent fogging and not feel cold in my face all at the same time?

Ordered myself a Pinlock AND mask.....
don't know what happened, they never arrived.

I've tried everything out there, nothing works (for me). Guess I'm just full of hot aire. This is a major major problem, because I like to ride year 'round. I hafta know which of my helmets has a face shield that I can lock open at the bottom.... In a pinch, I once grabbed a wine cork and sliced a groove into it so I could prop my face shield open.

Scorpion is supposed to have a fog-free face shield, and I guess there may be others are out there too. When I read multiple testimonials about something working, I'll try it.... but I can fog the interior of dual pane house windows, THAT'S the kind of fogging problem I have.
