Any 100% Waterproof pants?

I didn't see any post titled with 100% waterproof pants so I figured I start one since I can't find any.

I commute from Antioch to Hayward M-F rain or shine. The only time I'm affected is when it rains hard like it has been the last 2 weeks. The only part that gets soaked is in the seat area. There's no place for the water to go so eventually it soaks through my water resistant pants and my water proof (Nelson Rigg) over pants. It's not bad but it still soaks on a hard rainy day. I'm sure it would survive a 25mile commute but not a 53 mile one way commute.

Have you had any success on a 100% waterproof pants with over 50+ miles of hard rain with low speeds? If yes, which pants are you using?

BTW, I have the Sidi On Road Gore-Tex boots and they ARE 100% waterproof boots.

Aerostich or Klime. Others will weigh-in, but I have an Aerostich that has never failed me.

I just ordered a PVC rainsuit to go over my textile which manages to have some leaks on really rainy days.
The rainsuit was $16 delivered (Coleman brand) via Amazon. Even if it shreds after a season $16 bucks hardly breaks the bank for something I will only use when it is raining hard.

An Aerostich will solve ~90% of your waterproofing problems, but the full-length zipper WILL eventually leak. In hard rain I'll arrive at work looking like I peed my pants, because the crotch of the suit bunches up and forms the infamous 'birdbath' that will eventually seep through the zipper. (I had a previous gen 'classic' Roadcrafter and currently have an R-3, and it's an issue with both.)

However, if you want to literally never ever get a drop of rain on you: combine an Aerostich with a waterproof over-layer. I bought a cheap set of Olympia jacket and pants to wear over my Aerostich in crazy weather:

I favor a jacket and pants over a 1-piece rainsuit, because it allows me to run a heated vest lead out of my hip pocket.

Awhile back I rode from SF to Monterey with that setup in an absolute torrential downpour the entire way, and was warm and toasty upon arrival. The only thing I haven't yet figured out is how to keep my hands from getting wet when stopping for gas and then putting wet hands back into my gloves which then promptly get all damp inside.

I been using the Olympia ranger over pants since rain season started and the only time it leaked was when I forgot to zip up the corch zipper =\

Waterproof-breathables often leak eventually. Best for staying dry may be fully waterproof PVC or similar rain gear over your gear.

That said, I've had good luck with some waterproof-breathable pants.

I've stayed dry through most of the day rain in my BMW Rallye II Pro pants with Goretex liner installed. Like other Goretex though I don't expect them to be waterproof forever--at least without washing in a waterproof fabric treatment.

I have Dainese Goretex pants that kept me dry for years until I started wearing them as overpants, and the abrasion against the clothing underneath seemed to wear out the waterproofing. They developed leaks that I taped over.

My Aerostich Transit pants (Goretex Proshell leather) have kept me dry. Discontinued, but still available in many sizes. If you want waterproof leathers, take a look. I have the older model where the leg zips aren't waterproof, and once I thought I felt a damp spot there. Current one has waterproof zips.

I've also had waterproof gear that leaked like a sieve first time it got wet. Based on my experience if you want breathable stuff to keep you dry, some kind of Goretex is a good bet.

I have some Harley FXRG. Unfortunately, no longer made.

Not cheap, but it worked the one time I was caught out.:cool

I just get the PVC type oversuit, preferring the one piece lately but doesn't really matter. Has kept me dry and snug as a bug in a rug on long commutes in some nasty storms.

Only problem after that is my hands :laughing

Bit of a PITA to get in and out of, but sooo worth it IMO. Plus, they're usually cheap enough that replacing them every year or two isn't really a big deal.

My Klim GoreTex pants have been totally waterproof this season, and that includes riding in some pretty heavy downpours for up to an hour. Will have to wait and see how they wear over time, but totally satisfied as of now.

My Aerostich Transit suit was waterproof for about 8 years, and probably will be again once I clean them and recondition the leather.

PVC is completely waterproof if the zippers don't leak, but it doesn't breath, so you'll sweat like a pig in them and end up wet that way instead of from the rain.

My commute is 46 miles SJ to SSF. I ride in all of it and my 2002 Aerostich doesn't leak except for a pin hole at the right arm sleeve that just started this year... maybe it's time for a new suit?

I treat it every year with a tech-wash washing and nik wax treatment. But, used just like that, with no fore thought or anything it'll leak. Just like anything about motorcycling, there's little tweaks that can be done to make something a bit better. Does you're helmet shield get a shit ton of scratches in it? No, not any more, right? You figured that shit out right? Well, so have I... with the 'stich.

If you perform the secret aerostich ritual the leaking crotch issue goes away... I don't know it might work for all 1 piece suits... people, give it a try.

Here's what you do... Ready?

1)Get your suit on.

2)With the kicks stand down, this is important... sit on your bike

3)Look down at your crotch... do you see where a water puddle could form right above the zipper... so does water... it loves that shit.

4)Grab your pooch fabric...just the fabric please, anything more hurts, a lot... seriously... and roll it under with all 8 fingers... figure it out. You should have a belly fabric roll that covers the zipper now.

5)Lovingly say sorry to your crotch for the melvin you just performed on yourself with a smile on your face knowing your crotch will only get wet if you pee a little... which you will with joy... since your crotch is now dry? hmmm.

Seriously, get a 'stich and give yourself melvins...

Slap some of this over the affected area

Seriously - I have a stich and have never had a problem. I ride on the east coast and it rains a lot more that once a year. I always got to work dry.

And the 10 sec on/off is really nice.

My Klim Badlands have kept me dry in all day rains many times. I'm talking 8 hours of soakers while on the road
