Anything at all, no matter how insignificant? It seems like a great bike, but it sure is a lot more expensive than the RSV, but it sure seems like a great bike!

cheater engines? :laughing

what in god's name are you talking about? In WSBK they get to "cheat" but who set the displacement limit on the street? :laughing

People that i've talked to that own the bike love them. People that have ridden the bikes on the track say they're underpowered , these guy must be real goddamn fast to have an opinion like that

No regrets. Cheater? Again, research mechanical/technical considerations of different engine configurations before making any comments!

horrible passenger seat is all I've heard.

:laughing at "Better build quality"

Ducati's were much better when Ducati was building them, huh?

My only regret is that I couldn't afford two, one for the street and one for the track.

Yeah, this isn't one of those classic "bash a brand" threads. You can leave now.

aw I'm just fucking around. They are beautiful bikes, but they aren't really suited for the street. To me racing is about fairness. Inline 4's get the straight horsepower, but twins are lighter and have a better powerband with more torque. One should not have both. I'm not going to bash it completely because I'm kicking ass on the MCN fantasy league thanks to Ducati.

I would get an 848 if I had the opportunity. In a heartbeat.

The current rules are fair, although I think the all twins should be allowed up to 1250 c.c.
to echo the Superbike rules of old.

I'm pretty happy that I just recently bought a 999s instead of a 1098. Better build quality and imo better looks. Thanks for asking :twofinger

While "to each is own" in the 999 vs 1098 looks department, as I learned by starting a thread about Terblanche leaving Ducati, there's an interesting article in one of the recent issues of TWO about how the 1098 has saved Ducati not only as a motorcycle manufacturing presence and leader, but as a business, period.

The article's title: "How the 1098 Saved Ducati!"

Terblanche is responsible for the Hyper and the sport classic line. I can't hate on the man.

The only thing I hate about Ducati is that I don't own one

If they weren't allowed to run the larger displacement then they have another bike in the line up that could be homologated and its 990cc.

I have a 1098 as pretty much an only vehicle and I love it. Almost a year old and 7000 miles. I have done 500mi trips without any problems but then again I'm relatively young. The only down side is it's too pretty and expensive to take to the track, I've done it once but didn't push it. It's like having a gorgeous girlfriend but only getting to hold hands with a kiss here and there on a daily basis and she wears a really tight shirt with a low cut so you know whats underneath but you can't experiance it.
