Anyone here have experience with a Urinary Tract Infection?

I am wondering how they found this if it was "asymptomatic" meaning no symptoms.

If you just take antibiotics until you feel better they are not working to the fullest. The germs will then over power the antibiotics and the effects in the future will be lessened. Also the infection will get worse and need greater intervention in the future. Please take all antibiotics as prescribed and until finished, not just until you feel better.

I am a medical professional.

Just a note to ANYONE taking cipro. READ UP on it. Read up on side effects and achilles tendon tears. BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR BODY. I am not encouraging or discouraging, but people get seriously fucked up by cipro. It damaged one of my tendons. I know a guy who an allergic reaction and was fucked up for months from taking Cipro.

And there are other antibiotics for UTI.s

Three days does seem to be an acceptable courser for MINOR infections. But if she is taking cipro READ UP ON IT. And avoid running, jogging or any stress on the achilles tendon.

+1. I used to be a runner. After spending a year taking tons of Cipro (had to wait a year before doc would yank out my tonsils), my knees went to shit. Can't run anymore, and they are still achey at times. I blame the Cipro, but they didn't know about that side effect back then.

After spending a year taking tons of Cipro

I'm sorry to hear about your knees, but that's a little different than taking a standard 5 day regimen.

Of course you should read up on what you're putting into your buddy, but I think it is really irresponsible to discourage this girl from taking a normal, safe dosage of cipro to prevent a a serious illness from turning into a deadly illness.
