Anyone playing Diablo 3?

I just started act 3 :party

Azmodan has some serious nipple rings!

I just started 10 minutes ago. Seems pretty amazing . Then the server lagged and I died. Reminds me of Diablo II

I love the new system of item drops they have. Each player gets their own loot. I won't need to punch my friend in the face when I see him for jacking my items!

The acts are longer, sometimes frustrating, compared to DII, but I welcome it.

Penumbra#1711 if any BARFers want to look me up. Fair warning, I'm a total newb.

d3 launch cant be as bad as a game called darkfall..

on release day (online purchase only) the servers were down and people couldnt even buy the game.

D3 I think was worse. You were able to buy the guy and were out the money but not able to even play single player because the servers were to busy.

It sounds strange, but the game gets much easier with proper gear.
Go drop 70k (which you easily make just questing after normal mode) at the AH every 5 levels and its easymode.

My group of buddies and I are starting Act III on Inferno, and its a lot of fun running around with friends just messing about.
My 60 is a Barb, and I've got a Wizard in Hell. I love leaping/teleporting into a group of trash and watching it just explode. Both classes are good for that.
My friend that plays a Witchdocter is hating life, because he dies constantly. Monks are great to have in your group, and Demon Hunters are meh.

Current exploitable bugs: Azmodan gives 80k exp for the quest turn ins every run on Nightmare. It takes about 4 minutes to create a game, sprint to him, then kill him. (assuming a full group)

At the appropriate level, you can get to the next difficulty level as long as you've killed Diablo. So get a higher level player to create a game, kill diablo, and then leave before you turn the quest in. Then you can jump up through the levels quite quickly.

There is a down in the NW of the oasis that has a guaranteed Resplendent Chest. Takes 2 minutes to load game and get to it, its repeatable.

With my 8 years in the QA industry working with Sony, EA and Sega we never had any tool for this. I helped create the Network Adapter for the PS2, worked on the PSX (japan only), and the XMB which is the standard for Sony now.

Please elaborate on your "testing tool" that mimics 20+ mil people connecting at the same time from many locations around the USA all with different machines. I am calling BS! :twofinger

At companies that don't suck (Blizzard) they build their own tools. It takes a lot of effort but they certainly can and are built. You load test servers with bots. I've worked at 2 of the 3 companies that you mentioned and their QA departments are pathetic

Bots are not the answer. It's hard to load up a server with bots since those bots do nothing but take up space. They are static and don't interact with the DB which is hardly IMO a test at all. I believe the big issue is with battlenet as a whole. D3 was taking down battlenet which makes me think the auth servers can't handle the ddos like attack from a bazillion inraged nerds pounding the auth servers at once.

I believe a queue to log in would have fixed all these issues because once in the game it was solid.

Ditto what Var is saying. There's ALWAYS a way to test something.

However, in order to do something on this scale, you need to build your own tools, simulation, entry probes, or some other form of stub. To do that it requires time and (talented QA) engineers. To do that you need money.

Simply put, there IS a way to have scale tested this, but they CHOSE not to spend the money to do so.

Either that or they missed something. I think Blizard is one of those companies that I give the benefit of the doubt that they tried. They know what it means to have MILLIONS of subscribers jumping into a game within the same hour.

If it was EA I would have assumed they didn't give a shit

I'll tell you this: I really like working at Blizzard. If I didn't I just wouldn't say anything, and I certainly wouldn't have moved my family to Orange fucking County if I didn't.

You mean blizzavision? :twofinger

I am still waiting for someone to show me any tool that can handle 20 mil people connecting at once.

Great info. Is Azmodan still exploitable? I am currently on nightmare and this is just awesome!

I'm waiting for the patch that allows single player non network play.

Diablo used to let you "spawn" multiple players from the same disc for LAN play. D2 removed that, and now D3 demands you be Blizzard's bitch full-time.

I'm seeing a trend going the wrong direction. I can understand the need and desire for network connection for multiplayer and even occasional verification of legitimate purchase. But "cheating" prevention for single player is the worst excuse ever. Especially for those who enjoy games where you can modify and create your own content.

For people debating whether or not anyone can test for 20M people can simultaneously connect, they're missing the point-there should be NO NEED for that connection for many of them. Besides, they already survived the Starcraft II launch so should've learned a few things.

That's why I'll be sticking to Torchlight and Torchlight 2. already preordered the latter.

D3 still having issues or is everything running smoothly now? Back from vacationing and ready to jump...

Many reports of accounts being hacked and items and gold being stolen :| Why don't people realize that it's a fucking GAME?!

Edit: but yeah, the servers seem to be running great.

Not worried about getting hacked...authenticator takes care of that. Assuming I'm going to have to use the one I have for more than doing the digital download.

Its not a game when you can make money off it. My friend got his account hacked as he was on vent with us. Bliz had his stuff back within 24 hours! Nice turn around but they are used to it from WoW.

The game is smooth but I have already lost interest. I beat it once on normal mode but have no interest to do it all again. There is no end game and honestly its just a clicker game with a lot of fluff but no body. I had fun though!

Diablo 3 can be summed up in this video
