Hello BARFers -

I'd like to pre-run for a couple of days and then watch the start. Has anyone done this?

Need to know what to expect.

I pre ran start to mile 230 or so in 07 with a racer. It was fun, but don't do it alone. The pace is fast, there is alot of traffic on the course, and following the marking is a learned skill. The markers are few and far between in places, so you need to have a general knowlege of the area and the course, as well as where to get food and fuel.
The "tech" inspection and start are neat to see, as is the finish.
I drove a chase truck and pitted for the team that year. Driving to Cabo and trying to stay ahead of the race for rider changes is a challenge in it's self, and very dangerous too.

This year it's supposed to be a loop, start/end in Ensenada.

I really really really want to get down there and ride it and watch it.

(your event would be a great tune-up!)

yeah, it is one of the things you will talk about forever! Don't let me talk you out of it, just have a plan and a friend. Everyone starts pre running as soon as the marking is up, and man those trophy trucks move fast! I'd look around and see if someone doesn't offer a tour, map or something that would take you to parts of the course rather then mixing it up with the racers. If your used to Baja's riding and high speeds it wouldn't be a big deal, but if your not you'll be looking over your shoulder alot.

it must be fun
