I love the looks of these pipes-esp on a streetfighter.
I'm a little reluctant to buy one cause Im affraid theyre just loud as fuck.
any opinions, advice, info, whatever?
Im running a Yosh tri-oval carbon pipe thats sounds sweet-and its a yosh so the fucker performs
im kinda wondering how the slash cut gp pipes for street are performance wise and loudness

there is a lack of back pressure thats for sure...so your bound to loose low end torque, but its a hell of a lot louder!

I love my M4 GP on my Gix. Sounds great. Much better than other GP pipes I have heard.

It is loud but with earplugs it is fine. You can check it out when we meet up for those parts.

I did back to back rides with my Yoshi TRS and the M4. There was do noticable difference according to my seat dyno.

Here is a clip of mine I forgot about.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGjmoLX98Ps

If you notice the r1 in here it has the 1st year boz brothers slash cut. Now that thing is fucking LOUD. The only time it sounds good is when its speeding away from you at WOT and at the top of the revs.

I've heard that clip before lol. Sounds better IMO. Mine just sounded narly. I was shooting flames out of m exhaust. some were around 12 inches or so:wtf

wow, I've seen some with the Racefit shoot flames. But mine never had it. It's probably cuz I had a custom map done :laughing

its hard to tell from these sound bites (esp on wimpy ass computer speakers) what any of these pipes sound like on the street in the low to mid rev range. Im talking everyday real world riding situations...
not on the track with the revs maxxed out.
I'll admit that alot of my interest in these pipes is purely based on looks.
I like a nice looking bike. and i want my bike to look straight up fucking tits!
but...the most utmost mostestly mostestest important thing is performance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
of fucking course!!!
loosing low end torque doesnt exactly ring-a-ling-ding my performance loving bell.
BUT...isnt it possible to remedy the loss of low end torque by regearing the bike?

Sorry, I have nice speakers...

Regearing the bike is an alternative but you could have even more power with a regular slip on. Your bike, your decision. Here is another link as well as some pics in case your interested. I know you dont have an r6.

im getting the impression that these gp pipes just sound fucking angry.
am i on the right track here? if so...then sign me up!!!!
what ive kinda been trying to get at is this:
do these GP style pipes sound as obnoxiously loud as those fucking annoying aftermarket Hardley Ablesons-as in so loud you cant hear the person next to you speaking??
I mean-come on-you know what im talking about, right?

its not as annoying as a harley. Very similar to a moto gp pipe once your near redline though. Not quite as loud but you get the point. If you dont mind the loss of power then you will not be disappointed.

I don't think they sound like GP bikes at all, I think they sound like your muffler fell off. :laughing $.02

what?! I can't hear you!! LOL j/k

to be honest, on idle and 4k-7k rpm, they are not obnoxiously loud. It's when you hit past 10k-redline is when it screams

Even with my bike open header I can talk to someone next to me. I might have to speak up a little but it's not difficult.

:laughing thats fucking funny:laughing
i know that sound too well cause i had to ride without a pipe for while-back when someone stole the pipe off my bike. :mad
no pipe sounds like shit.
alright guys--how much of a power loss is there?
and is it just in the low end torque?
if thats the case-sounds like i would need to slap a new set of sprockets on as well to compensate

Some of the new shorty pipes are breaking the DB limits at Infineon. That is loud. And no place on the street for pipes that loud.

You don't lose HP with a pipe, you move it up in the power band.

+1

I can't stand some of the "slash-cut shorty" aftermarket pipes out there...they sound f'ing obnoxious. And it's amazing how much an impressionable rider will spend for something that's basically nothing more than an auto exhaust tip from Kragen or Grand Auto, as long as it's pimped by a pair of brothers who race. :loser :laughing
