In this months Motorcyclist there's an article about how to start racing and what you need to do in order to prep your bike. The author used plastics by www.e-racings.com. Does anyone have any experience with these?

I looked at them on the website and they are dirt cheap. My thing is that most of the time you get what you pay for.

I think Rick (280squaggler) is running those. He seems like to like them.

I was going to pick up a set but I'm getting Sharkskinz tomorrow.

Wow, price is great. My experience with cheap bodywork is that it crashes VERY poorly and is hard to assemble and paint. I hope this stuff is better than the hotbodies crap I threw away.

I'm never gonna live that down am I?
Ern -- it was Soto's -- Blame him!

Wow - that stuff is so cheap, it's pretty much disposable! I spend more than that on a set of tires. I'll give it a shot and let you guys know - I need a spare set anyway.

I talked to Rick (280squaggler) last night and he said the stuff seems to be good stuff (thick). He said it's much better than Hotbodies.

I don't think he's had a chance testing it in a crash and hopefully he never will so I can't talk to that.

Damn this stuff is cheap! I was going to look around for used race plastics but at $350 for a whole set for my 1000rr...how can you say no?

Update: well they certainly ship fast! Ordered around 11am, got a shipping notice from DHL by 12:30. Should show up early next week I think since they're down in SoCal. Shipping was less than $30. So far so good.

Wow, dave, thanks for taking one for the team! I was pretty set on Hotbodies after doing a Google search and seeing mixed reviews on other forums.

Working at Motostrano, I can get a pretty good deal on Hotbodies.

AFM199: What was up with the Hotbodies stuff that you had?

Hotbodies fit was shit and it disentegrated in the first crash. Other than that, it was great.

there's a lot of mixed reviews on this brand on 600RR.net. Most people state that they like the product and that it's a good buy. I'm just wondering how well they paint...

post of the month!!! :laughing :cry

ernie, I need to use this in my sig.

Nice to keep taking advantage of this US-China trade imbalance as long as it lasts. Fast shipping from SoCal, ordered Friday, arrived today (Tuesday). Pictured is what you get for $375, _including_ shipping & tax.

The solo tail is noticably heavier and thicker than the other pieces, I'm not sure if it came from a different batch or they do all the solo tails that way for strength. Can't tell if it's thicker with more layers of fiber or just more gelcoat. Tail is not very flexible but the other pieces are. There are marked spots for drilling the side fasteners. The upper and lower appear to mate properly but I'll have to try it on the bike to be sure.

Surface will require some sanding prior to paint, but then again I'm of the 50ft/50mph school when it comes to paint anyway so I'll probably not bother too much. I'd judge it average based on experience with 3 other sets.

I'll report on the fit when I get a chance to drill and mount it up.

So far:

price: A
shipping: A
finsh: C
fit: TBD
crashworthiness: TBD ;)

Bought a full set for a 748, looks alright. Not great, not bad. Ordered Fri, arrived Mon. They're fast at least.

Anyone crashed in these yet? I'm thinking of getting some for the 996.
