Aprilia Reliability

So I am dealing with a 2014 RSV4 rr. It has been upgraded to all Ohlins and full titanium Akrapovic exhaust system.

Rear brake issue...can go to the last paragraph for the possible fix.

My problem is the rear brake. The brake worked fine for awhile. Then one HOT 100F day in Sac-of-Tomatoes I am riding into the foot hills and pull off at my exit of fun and notice the bike is stopping without me applying front brakes. Then it will hardly accelerate. So I pull to the side and lsee the problem and let it cool. Bike now rolls. I make it home ok? My guess is I just was absent minded and let my foot rest on the rear brake. Well a few rides later it happens again, and I know it is not my foot. I adjust the rear brake, it works for a long while and starts to seize again? I take it to the shop and they said they made an adjustment and all was good. It was for a few rides. But then I needed new tires. When the rea tire can off so did pieces of rear pad. So I get new pads. Brake still not right. I adjust, still not right. I bleed the rear system with D.O.T.4 TWICE, and now no brake action?

The forums say that this year you need to raise the calipers above the reservoir for 24 hours, bleed, and all the air bubbles are out...but this usually needs to be done yearly???WTF So I just spoke with a world wide top F1 race car mechanic friend of mine and he said, we see this all the time. When the calipers get red hot, the seals get dried out, start to roll rather then slide and suck in air. You need new caliper seals, being aware that the beveled side goes inward (get magnifying glass to see bevel), clean everything, LUBE the new seals, press them in. Bleed system. Problem is 100% gone. So I will do this soon and report back.

Good to read that Mark and get some expanded knowledge. Wouldn't have known that till your decryption. Thanks!
