IIRC, Kocinski and teammate were in position to win the Suzuka 8 Hours which brings a huge cash bonus, but Johnny K's Bell helmet fogged up bigtime in that high-humidity late-July weather. He switched to the uber-vented Arai RX-7RR immediately.

i'm just glad that the whole kocinski whining bullshit is the thing of the past. all the talent in the world and the guy couldn't keep his mouth shut and grow up. so annoying.

He had so much talent, but...other issues...meant he won "only" two world championships. He shoulda won at least 5!

Ah well he invested his money in real estate and made a bazillion dollars, last I heard he lives in Beverly Hills?

I only spent 20 minutes with Kocinski and Kanemoto in their team trailer after he crashed out early at the '99 Motegi GP, he seemed like a decent guy to me. In fact he tried to give me his muddy post-crash Styl Martin racing boots but he misunderstood and thought I was a greedy fan asking for free stuff, so I declined. Looking back I kinda wish I had accepted, that would have been a good race memento to display. :thumbup

I read Aaron Slight's bio book, he didn't have any kind words for John though.

So no new Arai helmets that have the Stars and Stripes on them?
 
I'd buy a Joey Dunlop if I had a yellow bike. Then again it would be pretty easy to just paint a black stripe down the middle.
