So I have an Akrapovic exhuast im trying to sell(came with the bike)

I was under the impression that it was a full Titanium system, and I was told it was Ti when I picked it up from the shop that took it off.

So i posted an ad for sale on here and on other forums, over the r6 forum someone came in and posted that the picture I posted of my exhuast was not a Ti header, rather it was Stainless steel.

So my questions - is there a sure way to tell difference between stainless and titanium?

Here are some pictures of the exhaust for reference.

Looks like Ti to me. SS would have more sheen.

You really should be able to feel if it is Ti. It should feel abnormally light. Visually, I have not seen enough Ti systems to be able to tell the difference.

Take a grinder to it. Titanium showers white sparks. Steel showers yellow or orange.

Kinda hurts the resale value though.....

+1 If it were a Ti system(which it does not look like). it would feel freaky-light rather than just hmm, this feels fairly light. :ride

PS Take a Scotchbrite pad to it(it looks filthy:twofinger). If it cleans-up thoughroughly(removes surface metal), it's Ti. Stainless will be much harder to clean with the same Scotchbrite pad. ;):ride

Ok you are saying it looks TI, can you please give details on WHY?

to me it looks TI because its blue, and isnt shiny at all, and when i tap it it doesnt have a high 'ting' to it like when i tap my oem pipes

Yes, thin, high-grade ones definately do. Especially if they are not clean when being thoughroughly heated the first time-or-two.

thats what ive heard, well sh1t, any other clues to figure this out?

I read it as the whole system.
