There are no more CRT TVs or monitors in my house !

Yesterday, I replaced the last tube TV in my living room with an LCD display. Things look so sleek and freed up so much space too.

I only had 3 CRT sets to replace, but it took 4 years: 1 monitor in the office was the first to go, 1 TV in the guest room was replaced last year, and lastly the living room TV.

Yep.

60" LED in the living room
47" LCD in the master bedroom
32" LCD in the guest bedroom
32" LCD in the garage

Just took my last CRT to the e-waste place today!

Im waiting until the tubes fail.

On a more serious note, I do have a 21" Quasar (Panasonic) set that was top of the line when I bought it. In 1985. Cost a princely $600 back then. Multiple inputs and the whole nine yards.

I knew I had become my father when I overheard myself tell my wife something along the lines of that I paid good money for that set, and it still worked just fine, dammit.

It is still in the MBR, and I've vowed not to replace it until it fries. Though I might have to cave on that, since there is a growing chance that either it or me will have an unfortunate accident if I don't.

We have a shop here in Alameda the has a few functioning Black and white old tubers.

reminds me of the hooplaah in our neighborhood when the Woods Family got a color tv.

I should sell my heavy ass tube tv on craigslist for $20 or something while it is still worth enough for someone to carry it away for me.

still have a CRT to dispose of.....waiting for the next hazardous waste roundup

At my house we have a nice warm fire in the fireplace and sit around the radio.

I couldn't even get rid on my 250lb 36" Sony Wega through CL. When I bought a new washer I had a delivery guy take it away.

I got rid of my Sony Wega 32" flat screen tube last month. I've had a LCD/LED for a while now, but I held on to that Sony because it had such a nice picture. Problem was I never watched it. I gave it to someone who was using a smaller CRT, along with the stand it was designed for. I also recently gave away my sound system (Sony) I purchased when I got the Sony. There was some serious $$$ tied up in that, but the system is outdated and I need to game on a wide screen. Now I have a nice 42" flat with a sound bar/sub woofer, and all my gaming systems (along with the bluray player) fit on the stand I bought for the flat panel. And it all fits in a way smaller space than the old system. One TV is enough for me though.

Wega TVs are insanely heavy, like hernia inducing heavy.

I never replace a TV before it dies...actually, that pretty much goes for everything I own except bikes.

Still waiting for this monster to die before I upgrade; but it just won't die! :mad

At least the HD picture is not bad as I had it professionally calibrated twice in its lifetime, (a necessity for these rptv's back in the day):

..

That's what I was waiting for too, but right now there's a $50 rebate for getting an LCD LED TV (from the power co). This promoted me to switch since I doubt my CRT is worth even $50, so the financials worked out. Unfortunately, I lost the rebate form. But I'm happy with the LCD TV.
