So, I've been dealing with a nagging athlete's foot problem for a while. No amount of powders and sprays did anything to make things better. This week, I went on vacation in Maui. I wore nothing but flip flops everywhere for the entire week while I went in and out of the ocean and frolicked on the sand. Wouldn't you know it? My athlete's foot problem appears to be cured!

What do you guys think? Is it the fact that I just aired out the dogs for the entire week, or was it all the UV rays that killed everything? Or, did it have to do with all the salt water?

This was just a happy accident. I brought shoes and socks, but I never wore them during this trip.

air, salt water, sun. salt water is a natural germ killer. :)

So, you're saying that I can use athlete's foot as an excuse to come back next time?

Works for me also. I never wore flip flops until I started working in boots for 10 hours a day. Now when I'm at home I leave my feet out of shoes as much as possible.

Ummm. have you tried peeing on it??? DAMHIK

my physiology teacher used to say the key to healthy feet is to weat sandals with socks as much as possible lol

Depends on your environment.

Doesn't work for me in AZ because the skin dries out so much it cracks and lets fungus into the lower layers of your skin.

I used that approach successfully elsewhere when it was a problem, but now I have to lotion up my feet, and put on socks and shoes a day or two a week to keep my feet from getting too dry.

Even without fungal issues it dries out to the point it cracks and bleeds.

So, just don't overdo it. Mix the two.

Now, I gotta figure out how to keep fungus free back home where I wear shoes almost all the time. Maybe I need to start surfing again or something.

Yeah, ya gotta air that shit out. Salt water helps. That and as one of my drill sergeants used to say [paraphrased for niceness lol].... wash your feet, don't just let water run over them! Dry between the toes afterwords, don't let the moisture set in.

Also if you wear shoes all the time and notice a problem with AF, use some talcum powder.

What did the unfiltered version sound like? Was it the same thing with just some f bombs tossed in?

What do I think? You're a nasty motherfucker, keep yo stank ass feet away from me!

believe it or not, the water in Maui is very warm and harbors all kinds of little critters. Last I was there my wife cut her foot while body surfing and OMG you would think she was going to die from all the locals "oh brah! go to da clinic and get it taken care of before the creatures set in!" :wtf Doctor concurred that cuts can turn really bad there because of this. Maybe them critters tasted that fresh cheese on your feet and took care of it for you :laughing
