Auto collision claim advice

You don’t have to call anonymously if you have a good agent. I have conversations like this every time a claim comes up, and have never been burned. Talking with my agent though, not a claims processor.

^^^ yeah I was going to mention "an agent". You know, those guys who like just sell you insurance BUT if you have a crash, like, don't do anything because they're neither a claim-taker nor a repairman

I'm not sure all buddy-bro private agents record your calls all the time. Heck, they have random offices in random strip-malls--and sometimes take calls not even from there.

Thanks for the info. All jives with what our agent mentioned and guess I’ll be eating the repairs :(

Your insurance company appreciates your sacrifices and will enjoy the larger bottom line, after all, they would rather keep the money they collected rather than having to collect more later. :thumbup

Who is your carrier?
In CA they can only hold onto property claims 3-5 years.

Problem is my wife's other car is already expensive and my son will start driving soon. Increased premiums would supposedly be close to 800/yr and that doesn't include what happens when we pick up another car.

Looking over the estimate I think I can shave it down a bit so expect it'll be under 2500

:wtf

You might also want to speak to your agent about the cost if you get your son a dedicated liability only policy on a throw away car and have hi as an excluded driver on you and your wife's vehicles :dunno

My industry experience is dated but I know that this was a financially viable option for many of the people I know.
