Bacon may become much more expensive - African swine flu in China

Bacon? Shortage?? Nooooooooo. (pork bellies, pork bellies...)

Any idea how much of China's prok production makes it here?

Right?!? Speaking of crickets, i tried Chirps. They are corn chips with cricket protein flower. Have to say I was kind of bummed that it was cricket flower instead of cricket bits.

Swine flu is not likely the only concern with food from China.
Wouldn't doubt they fake the labels and claim its from Brazil.
 
What kind of crazy diseases will popup when America gets moving on large scale insect farming? Plus, I'm not sure insects are capable of feeling enough pain to satisfy the erection needs of large scale farmers here.

wild pig tags arent very expensive or even free in some places and you can get a lot of bacon

No but it will raise the global price of pork and we will likely be exporting more and more of our pork to countries that usually bought it from China. Thus raising prices.
 
Is this the same outbreak from last year? Hard to find information on Chinese tariffs on US goods but pork may have a 70% tariff. I guess that's why lean hog futures haven't gone ballistic.

Wild pigs are an invasive species. That I have to get a hog tag here in California is nothing more than a fucken tax grab.
 
china don't have or consume alot of beef. pork and poultry is their main stable. who will china buy pork from? spain/europe?

My favorite was the bacon wrapped dill pickle. OMG good.
