Banned from Reddit.

I got banned from Reddit long ago. Don't really miss it. Made a shitty joke and it went bad from there.
 
That's weird that it went bad from there, you seem like you're really good at letting things go.

Haha.. Not a bad guess, I was in full stupid mode there for awhile. Do you remember my getting chased by the Alameda Sheriff's office for 60 blocks through Oakland? I wasn't running. That was my 'East Oakland riding pace'.

Anyways.. I was married, got divorced.. I eventually I met a nice gal who's an Alaska Pilot. We moved to Colorado, bought a house & had kids.. Some of the guys met her at my BBQ's before I left.

I have some great memories from BARF.. Lots of good peeps here.

Man I am laughing at what troublemakers you guys are! And I thought I was the controversial one. NEver been banned from anything.

I was stupider, just like everyone in the earlier days of posting, but I think watching MAGAts and the troll farm postings during the election has sobered up most of us….well, at least here.
 
I was banned because of the implication of what I said not for what I said. They basically said "You said X, and despite the words meaning X, we are going to interpret it as Y and you're perma banned, Bye"

My appeal was "I never said that please point out where I said that".

I mean, private companies have no obligation to provide due process or use the same standards as say, a court of law to some degree, but they should. One of the comments was a batman joke dealing with the homeless and I was banned for "encouraging violence".

Sounds like the familiar excesses in our hyper-sensitive world, where the concept of free speech is often neither appreciated or emulated. And I bet it’s super-arbitrary. The Internet, despite or maybe because of its vast reach, has never had a shortage of gatekeepers.
 
Free speech doesn't apply here you should know that.

I agree it's arbitrary, they clearly empower a lot of people to perma ban people.
 
It actually does, we just default to thinking that things only exist in the context of "me".
 
Free speech, it does apply here, it's just not our domain.
 
I think the issue is people either forgetting that free speech does not ensure consequence free, or that the rights they enjoy are shared by others that can (and do) disagree....on top of the fact the First Amendment has no impact whatsoever on what a private company opts to do in regards to users that opt to use their services. Bud is entirely free to ban me for shits and giggles and I have no recourse whatsoever, even if it was some random person Bud gave that discretion to.

I am, however, welcome to file claim to recoup the $0 I’ve paid to use this service. ;)

I'm saying its not a matter of free speech or no free speech, because free speech is a constant. The variable is the perspective, the domain, the entity with priority. So there is free speech, its just that barf is the entity with priority. If they control our speech, thats them exercising their freedom of speech in their domain.
