I’ve looked all over the BARF website for an overview and historical information about BARF, and found nothing.

I’ve grown to depend on Wikipedia as my first line of inquiry for almost all subjects; I find myself going to the site a couple times a week.

Today, it occurred to me to look up BARF. There is no BARF entry.

I then typed in "Bay Area Riders Forum"; in response, I read this:
You may create the page "Bay Area Riders Forum"

Wikipedia now contains over three million entries, and that’s just the ones in English.

There is no BARF entry. Anyone here capable of creating one? Budman would have to buy into this, of course.

I’d enjoy reading about the genesis and growth of BARF, the histories of the founding and perpetuation members, successes and failures, adversities overcome, and learning about the usual statistics associated with this type of venture.

What say, Budman?

What information would you include in the wikipedia entries? Generally, a wikipedia page will need a basic history backed up with citations for statistics and relevant events.

Before you even think of creating a page, you should be able to answer the question: 'why would the general (non BARF) community care?*'

* I'm not suggesting that they wouldn't care. But you do need to include that information, otherwise the page is really only relevant to BARF members.

** Wikipedia has proven its staying power. So has BARF. Putting a presence on Wikipedia shows to all (who care) that BARF has "arrived." I'm not a nuclear physicist, however I have read the entries for fusion, fission and hadron, among others.

I'm not married to the Wikipedia entry, however it would be nice to be able to read about the history of BARF, especially from the perspective of Budman with commentary by others intimately involved with the site. Put the info here or Wikipedia. Done right, it could be an interesting and enjoyable read.

In fact, all the composition should be done online here, first; then, submit the finished document to Wikipedia if desired - or just post it up, permanently, here. With maybe annual addendums.

I'm just thinking, how cool would it be, ten years from now, for interested BARFers to read about the beginnings of "WorldWide BARF" (or some such). Much of the information that could be laid down now won't be available in another decade.

teh BARF = if you have to look it up, then you won't understand it....

Welcome to Wikipedia,
the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.

Truth is not what anyone chooses to edit into a so called encyclopedia. Wiki may be useful, but it is defined by political correctness, mob definition and I rarely use it. It is NOT a source I would trust for anything.

BARF should fit right in. :laughing

The interesting thing is that the error rate of wikipedia is on par with that of "real" encyclopedias.

no I don't have a source for that and I dont feel like looking it up but heard it on NPR a while ago so not just random internet rumor.

Oh just wait for the "bitch that knows all about motorcycles, and clubs, and such, although she has never actually interacted with any of the aforementioned" to get the wikipedia entry killed.

Don't worry, I think my ex has been banned from the internets by now.
