Still cant get destiny to play. Got my xbox membership back. Downloaded gigs of whatever. Loaded the game then it says some patch needs to download and I get a blank screen. I let the screen run for 2 hour last night before I gave up. Well at least I got a dozen other games to play.
 
Try reinstalling it. If you disconnect your Xbox from Internet it will install from disc faster. You'll have to download the updates
 
I got it! Or eh, my daughter did. During the download process a couple of the compatibility packs failed. 5 and 9 in particular. So those needed to be individually deleted and reinstalled. All is well! I am questing and killing. I was so close to snapping that disc and sending it to bungie as hate mail. On bungies website there a thousand threads where 360 owners have had this problem and bungie has not responded to one thread. Bastards!

I preordered the sucker a long time ago. Preorder=automatic beta invite. Some people are reporting that for the PS4 they are going into the preorder screen, entering their card number or some crap, loading up the beta game, then cancelling their preorder. No money charged. Not sure if they have fixed this or not but seems like a good way to get in to beta for the PS4 at least.
 
OK so.. I don't know how to convey just how fun this game is. Despite the fact that you are very limited in what you can do (yeah it's beta), I had a blast!!

I'm not good at reviewing or things like that. All I can say is it's f*#@in' fun! It gets 2 thumbs way up!:thumbup:thumbup

There are plenty of players! So you're covered if you want to play with others. There are 2 things you can do. Missions in a solo area, or mess around in the Dark Zone (you can play against AI but you are susceptible to attack from other players in the Dark Zone). You get better gear from the Dark Zone of course, because it's a higher risk in this area. In the short time I played this morning though.. any one that becomes a player killer (They are called Rogue Agents in the game and their name plate turns red for all to see) gets hunted down swiftly and mercilessly by just about everyone in the area who are alerted to the Rogues presence.
 
I have a crew on PS4 I've been playing with since the first Modern Warfare and PS3...we'll be spending a lot of time in the dark zone methinks.
 
The division is pretty good. It's tough in the dark zone though. A player with just 2 levels higher is really hard to deal with if they go Rouge. It does such that other people can pick up supplies you earned by killing AI. I have found a couple guys camping the entrance gates and the extraction zone.

A simple explanation of the dark zone is its an area outside of the safe zone (biological weapon). There are areas you will deal with AI groups and they drop better gear than the AI I am the safe zone. However, the gear is contaminated and you have to extract the gear via helicopter (I haven tried carrying it back to the safe zone by on foot) and you can only carry 6 contaminated items at a time. If you die in the dark zone, you drop some/all your loot and other can pick k it up. A team of guys will be a big benefit.
