Well that kinda blows. Haven't been on in a few days. I think I'm still at level 24 or 25. Maybe I'll pop in there today and see how much worse it got.
 
Meh. I don't have any purple guns so I'll probably get shit on. Nothing to lose....so why not.
 
Yup didn't see too many people just lone wolfing it in there (20-24 bracket). Saw one four man fire team that was just going around to the encounters farming gear below their level, but easy to get. Came into a room looking for division tech and found a fire team that had just farmed a harder encounter there...and they didn't even fucking hesitate to start shooting at me. Kinda stupid actually. They were all weakened a bit from duking it out with a bunch of elite/named NPCs. They didn't know if I was by myself or if I was just the point man for three more heavy hitters behind me.
 
So I managed to get to 30 without doing the dark zone yet. Is anyone interested in showing a dark zone tube the ropes?
 
I really suggest people go to the dark zone before 30. You can't buy the good stuff until you reach dz rank 50 so you are going to spend a very long time under powered. I'm only at lvl 29 but dz rank 47 because I've spent time maxing out my gear when at the top of each dz lvl bracket.

Isn't 50 the cap in there or does it go higher? Because if the top is 50, you've probably come out ahead more often than not on PVP in there. And don't you lose DZ rank if you die in there (more if you are killed as rogue)? So if you make 50 that means you're awful damn good already, then they're going to let you have gear that makes you even more untouchable?

It'd be like a way OP gun being dowloadable in COD with the only way to get it is to have a SPM over 500. Rich get richer situation.
 
There is no DZ rank cap.

You don't have to pvp if you don't want to, though you will probably get attacked if you look like an easy target.

You do lose DZ exp, but it's not that much and the penalties for dying as a rogue have been reduced.

Keep in mind, this is an rpg at heart, grinding away for better gear is one of the basics of the genre. It is disheartening if you only play a few hours a week but removing the progression mechanics would turn this into CoD.

I hope they implement a better system for matching players in the dark zone, like grouping them by level as well as gear score so the fresh to lvl 30 players aren't having to deal with the guys who have 120hrs of play time.

On the other hand, the dark zone isn't supposed to be a comfortable place. They lowered the rogue penalties because the dark zone was stagnant. Now, it's freaking stressful trying to extract a nice piece of loot while lone wolf. You just have to use the right strategy for playing solo, in a pair or as part of a group. The days of clearing an extraction zone by yourself, calling in the chopper and just waiting around are long gone. Assume people are always watching and just waiting for you to be vulnerable and an easy kill.


When you enter the dark zone, pretend you're in an episode of the walking dead.
 
My DZ rank is out of whack too. Guess I'll just go in there and grind for a bit.
 
JFC. Thought I was with four guys who were friendly. We cleared the same landmarks together. We get to an extraction, and just as the bar was about to finish attaching the stuff to the chopper, they pull out the SMGs and insta melt me and 7 purple drops hit the floor. Fuckers.

Lesson learned. Trigger the survivor link signature skill right before trying to go in and hook the loot on. Even if they do turn on you last second (and another group tried again), you're pretty much indestructible for a few seconds.

But fuck me! You guys were right. Level 30 DZ really sucks by yourself. Taking on a group of half a dozen elite level 30 NPCs and hope they don't have a shitload of bat wielding rushers as backup.
 
im not sure how people got it in their heads that they shouldnt go into the dark zone before hitting lvl 30 in the normal areas. ive heard so many people just get absolutely frustrated with the game because of it
 
Yeah it's probably a good idea to rank up in the DZ a little as you level up outside.

I like that there's a choice of the daily missions. Some are only at the "hard" difficulty, so you can actually handle them by yourself if you don't have a full crew. Already have almost enough Phoenix credits to buy the gold Vector which is like one of the most OP guns in the game.

Yeah the 30-30 bracket of DZ is not a welcome place if you're going in there with a weak load out.

I'm gonna grind the daily missions (and there's glitches that let you farm the regular missions over and over pretty easy too) and build up some Phoenix credits to get some more high end gear and weapons.
