Hi,
After receiving three varying quotes to renovate our ensuite (ranging from £4.5 to £8.3k), I figured i'd take a stab at it over the course of a few long weekends. We're not changing the position of any of the utilities, so i'm hopeful it'll be
easier.
At the moment, the bathroom is half tiled half painted. We want to fully tile the entire bathroom. I'm reading lots around HardieBacker and the other alternative products on the market.
The one question I can't find the answer to is -
Is it necessary to hardiebacker the entire
Bathroom Remodeling for the purposes of tiling the walls top to bottom? The walls on the left hand side look to be plastered straight onto brick, and on the right - plastered straight onto breeze block.
Should I knock this plaster off, then install the hardiebacker - or can I install the hardiebacker on top?
If i need to knock this plaster off, is it best done with a chisel hammer?
Really appreciate all the tips and guidance people are willing to share. If it goes peek tong - i'll get the professionals in, and it would have given me a good excuse to upgrade/buy some of tools!!
