Bathroom remodel contractor you can recommended?

have nothing to add WRT tinnitus, but we are remodeling our master bath soon. it's slim pickings up here in the mountains, so had to go down the hill to sac to find somebody. she's coming up in january to 'interview' us - which may be comical (i'm fairly normal, but my dude is an undomesticated beast - on a good day). earliest work could start is march. not looking forward to shit being tore up.

Fun times, especially finding a good contractor. Hope you pass your 'interview" and that your remodel is completed on time to your satisfaction.

Tim does a really good job on this kind of stuff. Maybe a BARF discount?

'interview' isn't a pass / fail. she's an interior designer. have done a ton of my own design work, including on our current house - but this master bath is a challenge i can't quite get my head around. the house has a very distinctive style, and i want help integrating that into what i want for a master bath (don't want that room to feel disconnected). so she's 'interviewing' us to understand our 'needs and wants' so she can propose some design concepts. and this is where my dude being an uncivilized animal becomes inconvenient. i fully expect that he will inform her that we don't need her help, and she can go fuck herself. have had to pick up the pieces from those exact words more than once.

i swear i need tranq darts.

Tim = VicTim, a general contractor if i'm not mistaken
the only problem with him is he likes cruiser bikes :laughing

Yeah, I don't know if Tim will go to Freakmont, but he posts photos on the Bookface all the time and it looks like he does really nice quality single family home bathroom remodels for sure.

Hi,

After receiving three varying quotes to renovate our ensuite (ranging from £4.5 to £8.3k), I figured i'd take a stab at it over the course of a few long weekends. We're not changing the position of any of the utilities, so i'm hopeful it'll be easier.

At the moment, the bathroom is half tiled half painted. We want to fully tile the entire bathroom. I'm reading lots around HardieBacker and the other alternative products on the market.

The one question I can't find the answer to is -

Is it necessary to hardiebacker the entire Bathroom Remodeling for the purposes of tiling the walls top to bottom? The walls on the left hand side look to be plastered straight onto brick, and on the right - plastered straight onto breeze block.

Should I knock this plaster off, then install the hardiebacker - or can I install the hardiebacker on top?
If i need to knock this plaster off, is it best done with a chisel hammer?

Really appreciate all the tips and guidance people are willing to share. If it goes peek tong - i'll get the professionals in, and it would have given me a good excuse to upgrade/buy some of tools!!
No need for backer board in areas that don’t get exposed to water just a smooth even surface.
I’m a Gc but don’t travel as far as Fremont. Hopefully you have a nice set of plans drawn up already so that the bid process will go better/more accurate or find a Design build contractor that can work with you to develop the scope of work.

Don’t settle for one page estimates that lack detail.
Unless you’re cheap and you’re just shopping price.

Sorry, that was intended for OP

I walked into this thread late.
My kid works for a general contractor (usually scheduling, but she also swings a hammer). They're based in Sonoma county, but do travel to bay area work for projects.
Jubilee Building co.

On the website, click on the link for Shauna. When you send the request, just mention, "your dad referred me."

Before I retired, I belonged to a business network organization called BNI. You need to be vetted to belong to BNI and they maintain pretty strict standards in order for you to remain a member. There are prolly several chapters near you that you find someone. As stated before the more complete specifications you have for the contractor/designer is the best way to go.
