I know I saw a thread somewhere on this, sorry if it’s a repeat.

I need to replace my battery in a 2008 650DL Vstrom the specs call for a 12V 36.0 kC (10Ah)/10hr battery.

Wondering what people think is a decent quality affordable brand.

Thanks:thumbup

I have been very satisfied with Yuasa batteries in all of my bikes.

In my 2008 DL650 (VStrom) I have a Yuasa YTX12-BS battery that is now almost 5 years old and still going strong.

I have tried saving a few bucks on cheaper batteries and regretted it. I only buy Yuasa AGM batteries now and know that I can trust them for a long time.

Just give in and buy the best and be done with it.

Ditto to all this. Yuasa is the standard, anything less is a mistake. If you have the money, a Lithium Ion battery can be nice and much lighter. I used Li Ion on my race bikes, my SV650 has Yuasa.

I always prefer Yuasa. Lately, on the flip-side of affordable, I also recommend the Anti Gravity batteries that only will ever discharge to a certain level before going into sleep mode and leaving just enough juice to restart the bike. I've seen them sit for over a year and not even need the restart mode engaged.

The other thing that changed me mind a bit was that during the pandemic, when all Yuasa batteries were unavailable, I installed a lot of Tucker Rocky brand BikeMaster Platinum batteries (as opposed to their value-line batteries) and well, so far so good. We won't know if they last a typical 5 years or not for another 3 years or so, but so far so good. Then again, since Yuasa have all come back in stock, I haven't installed any more BikeMaster anything.

Thanks everyone, looks unanimous Yuasa is the battery to have for cost and quality, really appreciate the advice.:ride
