"Be patient- I'm lowered" bumper sticker

We are Americans. Driving is WAR. Just like everything else.

Good one. Splains the driving then :laughing

MysterYvil, most lifted trucks don't have any more travel than stock. Not that there aren't long travel trucks out there, but the majority have stock travel, just lifted.

Most of the long travel trucks I see nowadays aren't all that far off the ground, they just have a lot of droop to help soften landings.

If you want more uptravel your ride height goes up significantly, which hurts handling a lot.

I'd rather have something like my neighbor's Ranger, which has significant droop, big meats, but isn't lifted all that much. Fender flares and trimming help a lot with uptravel, but at full bump the tires are very close to lots of things.

There is far too much bitching on barf. You ride a god damn motorcycle. You really are wound too tight if your complaining about traffic anything...

Actually in Europe I've seen every one slow down for a speed bump or a pothole if they exist (not everywhere existing).
People over there understand it and even appreciate the warning of the pothole coming upon under them.
Not here. People seem intent on driving like dumpster bildosers and then complain if their suspension and bushings go bad.

And the potholes are shileeting plenty...

Their roads seldom have a pothole.

Our potholes seldom have a road.

Tons of stock vehicles, especially Euros, need to slow down for driveways. It's not just lowered ones.

This wouldn't even be an issue, but "the moral majority" drives some big truck or SUV these days, so they think how they drive is how everyone else should drive.

I bet there are car drivers that sit there waiting for your parking spot while you put on your helmet and gloves..." Stupid motorcycle riders. Clogging up the flow of traffic. I'm gonna get rear ended sitting here with my blinker on while he puts on all his stupid shit. Why can't he drive a lowered car or lifted truck if they want to be noticed? Oooo look at me with my cool helmet and cool motorcycle. I bet he has a micro penis!"

Properly designed and operating suspension on a road going vehicle should be able to take a speed bump at 20 mph without breaking anything.

The vehicles should be able to take the speed bumps at speed without damage; Maybe the driver or passengers cannot.

I have major low back issues. I have to go over speed bumps and driveways very slow even with my pickup truck or 4x4. If I don't it hurts like hell, not just for a few minutes but for several days and it worsens my condition and gets me closer to needing surgery. On a bike it's not an issue, I can stand up on the pegs use to knees to absorb the impact.

My neighbor's kid has one of those stickers. His car is way too lowered he goes through a new bumper per month lol. He takes 5 minutes to get his car into the driveway. That is annoying.

One thing you can do is disconnect the swaybar. It would increase the body roll a bit more, but it would improve the ride quality over bumps, especially one-wheel bumps. Swaybars make the suspension less independent, because they tie the left and right wheels together, which forces a bump experienced by one wheel to get transferred to the rest of the car instead of being absorbed. This causes your head and neck to jerk around when you enter a driveway or hit a speed bump with one wheel. So I'm sure it has an effect on your back as well.

lol, probably takes forever to get those things turning and forever to stop em too :laughing
Nope, it moves reasonably well. In 2WD if you put your foot down from a stop it burns rubber. Not saying it's fast, but it's hardly slow. I've been airborne in it too (at the dunes).

Operative word being "should". I dunno, my kidneys prefer less of a jolt so I slow to 10mph.

Oh, and I'm one of the people who doesn't slow down for speed bumps if I don't have passengers in the car. Of course, my suspension is getting a little tired so maybe I should start...
