Becoming a LEO 101

Perhaps he expected to educate his child on the possible negative outcomes of his chosen profession? :dunno

Anyway this was two years ago so it'll be interesting to see what's what with his kid (and his experience as an officer).

Oh damn, I didn't even realize the post date! But yes, you are correct. Personally, I do not want my children (still single digits) to enter this profession, yet if they express a desire to pursue LEO work I can't deny them that. I will just have to train them.

Anyone thinking about joining: now is probably the best time to apply...ever? Tons of hiring bonuses, short staffing at nearly every agency, and so few applicants that the hiring process has no backlog and will get you through quickly.

I went through and it took about 18 months in 2013. You're looking at maybe 6 months now, possibly even faster. And policing is one of the few careers with a salary keeping up and sometimes exceeding inflation.
