i just went to look at the 2005 CBR600rr at concord motorsports, cause i am going to buy one. I talked to the guy and he said he could possibly get it out the door for 9,400. I was like ok sweet. i want the all black one, and he said they get them in on wensday. so i go over to progressive and i get a quote. cause i had insurance on my yamaha FZR600 there. the lady said cause i am finacing the bike i have to get collision and comperhensive, comes to over 4,000 dollars a year!
WTF, $4,000! thats like half the price of the bike. so i was like, well i dont want collison, cause thats way too much, and she said i have no choice.

I was thinking if i took a loan for $4,000 for a down payment on the bike, would i still have to get collision since i am not financing the enitre price of the bike?

no offense but I couldn't help but think about how much fun it would be to pay off a several thousand dollar bike that you never get to ride cuz its totalled. I'm not saying that you would be guaranteed to total it but is that a risk you want to chance taking?

Check around with other insurance agencies, I'm sure a different one can come up with something better. And if they ask what the displacement is, tell them it's 599cc ;)

try statefarm..just remember when they say how long u have had your lic. tell them the day u first got yer CDL

Im pretty sure that no matter what the age, as long as you are financing/ taking out a loan on a bike, car or anything else of the sort then you are required to have full insurance (unless you find a loop hole)
They do it in case you happen to destroy the bike, the insurance will then pay the dealership to ensure they get their money (bastards)

You think it sucks being 19, im 16 and full coverage on a used bike is 6000 plus a year

Ha ha, I'd love to be 19 again. Just roll with the punches man, you'll be OK ;-)

The way I understand it, you can avoid full coverage if the loan amount for the title lien is less than $10,000.

So if you can come up with the difference, like a credit card promo check or a credit card you should be able to get around it. If you use a check promo, make sure you dedicate the card for the promo only. If you charge a purchase or you have a yearly renewal thingy going on it, you will have to pay off the promo before the "full interest" purchase can be paid on.

BTW, check with the insurance agent before you can take the plunge. Maybe someone here can comment on who to try besides progressive.

+1 to state farm no one could touch them on price....my wife has been riding less than a year and they were still reasonable.

My statefarm agent was closed this past weekend so I called progressive for a quote. They wanted 7k/yr!!! I called my statefarm agent today and he said it will only be 596/yr for full coverage.

moral of the story... get a quote from statefarm.

Being 19 rocks compared to being 55. Trust me on this.

yeah, don't let the insurance man keep you down! just because you don't have any money doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to ride the hottest, fastest sportbike on the planet! but why be a pussy and only get a 600 dude??? yo what kind of pipe are you gonna get for it?

Damn, you really are a p.o.s

You people really need to insure your car with Farmers. If you have a car with them, you can insure a moto as a recreational vehicle. I'm payin $229 for 6 months on my R6, full cov.

When I was 19, full coverage was something near the same for my damn nt650. I think it was like 3k or something stupid like that and I bought the bike for 2750. I've had liability since then. I'll wait till after 25 to get full coverage thank you very much...

good news guys, i called USAA, cause they insure bikes in cali, and the quoted me 1470 a year for full coverage!!

so look out CBR600rr wensday i am buying you! hahah

That is a great quote for you. I never could afford a bike like that at 19 (student loans), so if you don’t mind me asking, what is the no BS reason you can afford a bike like that.
