Bennche Megelli 250R

Uh, made in China...

Reports of a dangerously dragging sidestand, bars that pinch, plastic that needs egg-crate protection, utter utter crap suspension (set up for 300 lb! riders!), demo units to journalists with warped rotors...

The sidestand and handlebars particularly I'd class as worse signs, because those are NOT the fault of chinese manufacturing, but of the DESIGNERS. That the designers can't design a sidestand, or a bike that doesn't pinch the hands, shows that the designers never actually rode prototypes!

Wow - I don't think I've ever heard motorcycle.com say anything fully negative about a bike before. They were clearly struggling to end on a positive note... :laughing

It looks like what you would get if a new-gen Ninja 250 and a 2006 cbr had a baby. The reviews seem to indicate that it should have been aborted though.

@ $3399.00 Can you expect much more value ? I mean How much does the bicycle you ride cost ? I know a few people with more money than that tied up in video games for their playstation. I guess its all relative. Looks good and with a few tweeks i'm sure it'll be fine

Eddie

feh... for a minute I thought it was a two stroke and I was all UUNNGGHHH but it's only a cheap lumpy four stroke thumper

I'm very wary of inexpensive bikes that are designed to mimic expensive Italian bikes. My concern is that form is put far ahead of function. Build a reliable, pretty 250 like the Ninjette and you're set.

How about expecting a bike that won't try to lowside you on a left hand turn:

motorcycle.com is stenography-ra-ra, and the first 3 seconds show the bike almost crashing because of bad design! Melting headlight wires, warped brakes...

Far better way to spend the money, just check out craigslist

Value isn't about cost, it's about what you get for the cost. At half that cost, it looks like the thing wouldn't be a good value. At a greater cost, a more reliable, proven, well-put-together, and parts-available bike would be a better value.

It's the focus on cost over value that started this Cheap Shit Made In China fad in the first place.

Well, props to some one at least trying..... Unfortuanately its off the mark by a big margin. For an MSRP of $600 (ninja 250) more you get a bike of vastly superior quality and wont spit you off on the first spirited left hander you take.

All I have to ask is: Where is the Honda 250? Where is a Suzuki 250? Where is a Yamaha 250? How can NO ONE else put something out there to fight my Ninjette?

Something with inverted forks (don't have to have much adjustment) and a radial brake...Aluminum frame...fuel injection...wet weight around 250...around 30hp...could be a single, parallel, or v-twin...

For about $5000....yes I would buy it...

Or I can just build one myself...which I did...which my Ninjette...

for about $5000....

I've lowsided plenty of bikes without sidestands on them. This bike will only help/encourage that. The point I was trying to make is you get what you pay for. How upset are you when you buy an inferior product with some serious design flaws ? You won't dee me spending my hard earned dollars on one anytime soon. I believe the saying goes "throwing good money after bad"

Where is a Yamaha 250?

I had one, and it's an awesome bike. It has most of the stuff on your list, in that price range. :)

Dude, I would love to see some of these out there...get a contact, let's make it happen! The dealers/distributors need this!

No better way to get people to notice then rip them around the track!

Biggest issue will be massive horsepower difference between it and the Ninjas and VFRs...you are giving up probably 10hp and a bunch of RPMS...but running something different is always cool...

it because they are all sold in Europe and other countries where there is practically a guaranteed market for small cc trainer bikes.

Even though this bike is bonerrific hot to me and other enthusiasts, to the typical nimrod...it doesn't look fast.
