Hey BARFers,

I'm working on a project and would like your input. I'm compiling a list of readily available motorcycles 500cc and under. Is it complete?

Models should be:

-Affordable
-READILY AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE IN CA! No weird niche bikes. Yes, the SXV450 is cool. But they're hard to find and not really good street rides.
-Street-legal
-Less than 10 years old (need not be still available new)
-Good dealer network
-Not scooters (not that's there's anything wrong with that).

Buell Blast

Hyosung GT250/GT250R

Kawasaki EX500/Ninja 500R

Kawasaki Ninja EX250/250R/300R

Suzuki GS500E

Suzuki DR-Z400S/SM

Honda Rebel 250

Honda Nighthawk 250

Yamaha XT225

Yamaha TW200
 
Honda CBR250, and the same engine used again in the Honda 250 dual-sport!
 
Duke 390 should be available soon.
Cosign on the Drz400sm and Cbr250r/crf250
All of Hondas new 500s are pretty exciting. Hope to see a lot of new riders out there with those soon.

FYI, the Blast was discontinued a few years back and is getting scarce. The XT225 was replaced by the XT250 a few years back, too. Good list so far.

What about the KTM 450EXC and Husky TE450? Plenty of dealer support, street legal and not too bad on the maintenance side of things.
 
I'd think that the "good dealer network" would pretty much scratch the Buell Blast (and possibly the Hyosungs?) off the list.

Sounds like I have a pretty complete list! I added the CBR250R and kicked the poor ol' Buell to the curb.

I also like the crf230L, which is also street legal.
