best cat food? best cat litter? treats, toys, ect...
i need reasons people, not just mindlessly voiced opinions!

the best groomer is the furminator. f4ichic started a thread about it that got me to buy one and it fookin rocks face. i used it on my cat and now i got an extra cat made entirely of fur. it was hard to firgure out which one to throw in the trash.

Best cat litter: Yesterdays News. It's recycled newspaper in pellet form. Mostly dust-free, doesn't get tracked around the house.

The clay used to make litter is strip-mined from the ground. Nasty practice. Clumping clay litter gives many cats breathing and stomach problems from the dust, and it's not recommended surgery, because it can cement up in the wound or something.

You can get Yesterday's News at PetCo.

how is it on oder though? and is it siftable?

id recommend Pirelli Diablo Corsas. they are pretty responsive to last moment countersteering and i have found that the hair, nails and bone fragments are less likely to cause catastrophic tire failure to this particular brand.

I use Swheat Scoop which is scoopable, the Yesterdays News and other pellet type litters fall apart after awhile from kitty pee. They do track it around though so get one of those mats for outside the box and vaccuum once in awhile. No biggie.

Toys; The best cat toy evar is made by "Hot Cats", it's these denim-type material stuffed with really good catnip into sausage shaped links. Man they love those things. Here are some pics

They sell them at Pet Club but I don't know about the evil Petco. I get mine at a local natural foods store.

The trick with Yesterday's News is you don't fill the tray with the stuff (2-3 inches max), clean what they call "waste areas" every day, and yes, you eventually have to dump the entire contents and start fresh. Guess what? You have to do that with clumping litter too, even if it isn't "clumped." Still gets pee all in it.

Best cat food: Nutro

We used to feed our cats cheap food, and they were always hungry no matter how much they ate, and generated a LOT of poop. Since switching to the Nutro, they eat less (this stuff is way better for them) and they poop less too. My aunt who runs a cat rescue turned me on to this stuff and it's the best.

i just picked up some nutro last night and am glad you said that cause the lady was like "nutro? uh oh.." and kinda bad mouthed it. i was debating whether to feed ti to the cat but now ill give it a shot.

And you can stuff cats into them if you get a flat. (Don't tell my cats I said that.)

I've heard Nature's Variety is the best cat food, by far. Haven't found it locally yet, but haven't had a chance to look. Why? Real meat, not tumor-ridden waste meat, and they also sell a raw meat product, which many people swear by.

Check it out: http://www.naturesvariety.com/

Mrs. Cygnus takes care of the cat food and such for M. Foucault. I see that we have a bag of Nature's Variety, as well as one from "Wellness" and one from "Authority".

My God that pussy's bigger than your instrument! :wtf

Where is the dance kittycat thread?

My kitty kitty eats IAMS, spider crabs, fishies, and bits of my hand on occasion

best cat toy.......laser pointer

best thing for a cat (IMO)....is being outside.....my 2 maine coones were indoors for the first 3 years.....got all fat and loafy....and generaly weird...

now they're outside...."in shape"...less loafy.....but still weird....

Truth.

Also works good to pour a bag of cat nip in an old sock. Just tie it off so it makes a big ball of fun :thumbup.

My cats are somewhat indifferent to catnip. Sorta depressing.

.

My cats really like the treat, Greenies.

Of course they really like my food too. Esp. when it comes to cooking bacon. They come into the kitchen, sit down and wait. I really need to stop spoiling them. :laughing
