Could it be a Chevy volt? It's close...but the fact that the battery will last over 10 hours to run the air while Zarra sits in the car on a hot as hell day, makes me love the thing even more! An SUV might be a bit easier, but she'd still be in the front seat when I get back. So how do I get people to not break my windows out to "rescue her"? Maybe stickers telling people?

Stickers would be good, but crack the windows anyway.

Hmmm ... not too clear about your question to be honest. How long do you plan on leaving her in the car? Where will you be? What kind of parking lot will she be left in?

I leave my doggie in the car occasionally; Honda Odyssey with the front windows cracked open and rear wing windows extended. I won't do it on a hot hot day, and when I do I make sure it's for no more than about 15 minutes.

Recently went to Healdsburg for a short vaca with the family. We found a dog friendly hotel, Best Western Dry Creek Inn, and brought the doggie along. We had a reservation for the wine train, but I asked my wife to cancel it once I learned how long the excursion was, that the hotel prohibited leaving a dog in the room unattended, and the complication of trying to board him for a day. Just couldn't and wouldn't leave him in the car for several hours.

Stickers that say "Rabid dog transport" would work best.

Think you worded it wrong...your goal is not to leave a dog in a car for 10 hours on a hot day, right?

Nice benefit of a battery car though, being able to run the A/C for so long while parked.

My wagon is blacked out. They cant (or are supposed to) get to the front seats. Windows cracked and sunroof open a good amount. The blacked out windows help with heat a lot.

My folks have a RAV4 EV for their dogs. Not sure if they've ever done the climate controlled crate thing, but I suppose it could go all day with the battery that thing has. Lot more room for them to move around with the back seats folded down. I doubt my dad is ever gonna bring them in the Volt because it's got the leather seats and there just isn't a helluva lot of room compared to the Toyota.

put thermometers in the windows, so busy bodies can see the inside temp

Holeshot... even though youre a fgt mod, PLEASE, please tell me you still have a heart n compassion. Dont leave your dog in the car for long periods, no matter what the temperature is. Ill bust open windows if i know its been longer than 20 minutes. Real talk.

However... if you MUST leave a dog in the car, put it in the trunk. Way easier n no worries on people seeing and panicking.:rofl:twofinger

BERTO! People are stupid!

Does she pant when she gets excited and you know for sure she's not hot ?

a while back it was 9 p.m., 75 degrees out and the windows were down 2", But these dumb nuts were trying to squirt water into the opening in the windows. My dogs were going ape shit, barking and snarling at these intruders. I almost got into a fight with their family because they were convinced that it was too hot.

Isn't the OP saying he leaves the AC on for the dog while he's away? Am I misreading, or is everyone else?

It's not concern for the dog, but about busy bodies who freak out if they see a dog in a car and make it their mission to "save" them. It's kinda sad that the Nanny State has extended to dogs.

Right, I got that. But theres a few folks saying to never leave your dog in a car or they'll personally smash your windows out.

I think he had it in his original post, get a sticker made and put it on your windows.

"Hey, I know it looks like I'm some asshole who left their dog in the car on a hot day. Truth be told, I am, but this dog has got it made. This being an electric car, I've got the AC blasting for Rufus here, he's more comfortable than you are. He's got water to boot! So, put the rock down, step away from the vehicle and have a nice day. Thanks!"

That might be a big sticker.

75 degrees outside, gaurantee it was warmer in the car even with the windows down.

But i get your point.:thumbup
