best house/car/moto insurance bundle?

well, wrapped things up with Allstate this afternoon. whew! Lots and lots of details when you're comparing and transferring four policies. Don't know why (and don't have the logic or facts to support it), but I've got it in my head that m/c insurance should be cheaper than it is.

You can just call a broker and they'll shop different policies for you to get the best deal.

+ 1 with Allstate. Just priced them and State Farm for condo/2 cars/moto. I have Geico for moto now. Allstate was by far the least expensive for moto and very competitive on the other coverage. Agent in Pleasant Hill just seemed to care about tailoring something for me that fit me the best. I also met her at the Motorcycle show in San Mateo last year which is a good sign.

Both Rider and Motorcycle Consumer News have done bits on insurance and what they both found is that for the best price on insurance "it depends." Both came up with several riders with different bikes and records. What they found is that each company was best or near the best for one or more particular rider but none were consistantly low for all riders and bikes. Just the oppisate, while each company had one scenario where they excelled, they also were the worst in another scenario. So just because your buddy called all around and got the best rate with company X, doesn't mean that you will get the best rate with them too, and do not need to call around, in fact they may be the wrost for your situation (bike, age, record, location, etc.).

For me, I was with State Farm for a while, but a couple years ago, I found a BIG discount by going to Geico. And when I started with State Farm I had called around, but several years had passed and several bikes had been bought and sold, so my situiation was significantly different. Really to get the best deal, you want to call around again every year or two. A pain, but is the only way to make sure you are always getting the best deal.

Thanks for the great props on State Farm. More than happy to answer your questions.

Been sponsor and helping BARF riders for the last 3+ years.

PM and/or call my office for help.

Do you have Safeco in California?

We've had house, car, motorcycles on it for years, including my son's two bikes and car, daughter's car, my Aprilia and two older BMW's.
I've had a couple of claims on the car insurance in the last 6 years, and they haven't bumped our rate.

I've got the ol' State Farm as well. Used to have USAA, and if you're military then they really hook you up. However, when I asked USAA if they would insure my CBR when I swapped from my Suzuki, they told me they went through Progressive to do it. The price was astronomical compared to my 600. (Not surprising) So I moved my truck and bike to State Farm. I just turned 25 too, which helps a weee bit. So long story short, State Farm has been the best pricing I could find so far. But it all depends on the rider, bike, and how many toys you have insured with the company and such and so-forth. Different experience for each person I suppose. Shop around before taking anyone's word for it!
