Best movie gunfights

Its not quite what I would call one of film's great gunfights, but I love how this scene from Kick-Ass adopts the entire visual language of first person shooters. Soundtrack doesn't suck either.

I completely forgot about that one. One of my favorites. :thumbup

I went to see Saving Private Ryan on the big screen with a few other guys when it first came out. We snuck in with two barley pops each. I set mine down during the opening scene and never picked them back up. :wow

Might have you beat.

Went alone to watch "Apocalypse Now," first day, first matinee. Arrived to an empty auditorium, sat down RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE for best sight lines on the huge screen. A few minutes later, two guys come in, and even though the auditorium was still nearly empty, sat in the row right behind me, off to the side by a seat. And started talking, in low voices - before the film started, so I wasn't too upset yet, but I was starting to get there.

Then, right before the opening sequence, I hear the unmistakable sound of a match lighting. Now I'm pissed, and I'm going to say something that will probably lead to a fight, but I'm hot and half intoxicated from the heavy shots in the bar just before coming to the movie - nothing like a few stiff shots for an abeyance of reality to make the movie experience better.

So as I'm deciding what to say, I hear one of them take a strong inhale, and smell the exhale. Marijuana! Now, I'm thinking along with the visual and auditory experience, I'm going to get an olfactory component (I knew, generally, where the movie was going), and calm down. Then, right before the napalm hits the tree line, I overhear another short conversation and learn the two guys were there as infantry in Viet Nam. And so we all enjoyed the film.

Some of Michael Mann's best work.

That bit of music at the end was composed by Craig Safan, the guy who did the theme from Cheers, and a shit ton of movies and TV music.

The rest of the soundtrack is Tangerine Dream.

I actually recorded that music at the end and had it on tape for rides in my GTO. :thumbup Definitely on of Michael Mann's best. The opening scene in the movie is freakin' awesome.

Speaking of Michael Mann, it's not really a gunfight since it's completely one-sided, but this scene is fucking awesome:
