I got one this weekend, it kicks ass. I would recommend it highly. Stupid hdmi cable is f-ing expensive!

Did you get suckered by best buy? Return it and get one at monoprice for probably less than the sales tax on what you paid for your cable.

EDIT: btw, which bluray player did you get? I heard some of them do the Netflix streaming now. I just signed up for Netflix a few weeks ago, and I have the streaming on the xbox360, it's pretty kick-ass!

Dude dont buy cables at the store! lol

And yes, High Definition > *

I'm so spoiled by BluRay/HD that I hardly watch SD programming anymore :|

+1 Monoprice for best products and prices.
Look at the price on the Banana's and they work great!

yeah dude...hdmi cables are next to free...

in fact I got mine for free!

oh and you should have bought a PS3...games AND a Blu-Ray! What else do you need?

Oh and you better have 1080p

Bruce Lee's "Enter The Dragon" is fookin amazing in BluRay. I'm amazed at the clarity of a 36 year old film.:thumbup:thumbup

At least you didn't get suckered into the whole HDdvd Toshiba setup that i bought for 200 bones only to find out it was the Betamax of HD.

If you're getting into HD, don't skimp on the audio - it's half the experience when watching a movie.

No, I wasn't fooled by the Best Buy cable prices, I got one at Fred Meyer for $10. I wanted to watch a movie that weekend and didn't mind spending a little extra for one. It just floored me that Best Buy was selling those cables for $70!

Edit:
I got a Sony BDP-S550. I'm totally doing my part to stimulate the economy damn it!

Seriously, I've been loading up on A/V equipment first. When I get this setup tuned so it sounds good, THEN I will buy the ps3. :p

I bought the ps3 for the fact it plays blue ray and love it. If you are going to go blue ray why not get a system that plays games too? I already had the theater system. I am spoiled now. I love it. The movies cost more but worth it.

The PQ of BR is nice, but a good 7.1/5.1 HDmix brings it all together. Not to mention a gut slamming sub.

I have the BDP-S300 and it sucks! Takes forever to load and locks up pretty frequently. I just reflashed it last night as it wouldn't even play the latest BluRay DVD's.

Word to the wise, check the sony site for firmware updates. I have upgraded mine two times in the last 3 months. They keep changing the Java on the discs so you have to keep upgrading the firmware too :(

Anybody know how good/bad Netflix library of blu-ray is? Do they have much on blu-ray?
