I have the LTR in .223 with a SS scope. Great rifle.

You can still get the SS scope, just only through swfa now: http://www.swfa.com/c-231-super-sniper-rifle-scopes.aspx Great scope for the money.

Nice looking pair of rifles you have there.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up man! I just ordered the one i'm going to have on my DMR.
I love those scopes.

Jeff,

Some of us have been going shooting at Reeds on wednesdays. Its been a few weeks since the last so we could do another one soon.

anybody going to do their hunter safety soon? gota have that before the trip to Ligget.

The first Sat of each month the Chabot range has a full day safety ed course. The next one is Sat July 7th at 6AM sharp. My wife and I will be there, we'd like to start hunting this year.

Kinda obvious I supppose, but;

- Be prepared to field dress your kill
- Check out/make arrangements w/Butchers before you go- so you know where to take your kill right away. Watsonville/Soquel and San Martin are the ones I usually hear being used.

Ratters, I'm going to pick up a .223 bolt rifle at the upcoming Reed's sale. I don't hunt, so I'll be bench shooting mostly at 100 yards (so I'm a wimp, flame away!).

All my shooting so far has been done with open sights using Garands, carbines and other WWII milsurp stuff. One of my Garands is capable of excellent groups (I've witnessed what it can do, but not with me pulling the trigger)!

Recommendations? I don't want to go for a Sako or Tikka or anything in that price range. The consensus seems to be a Remington, but there are lots to choose from. I'm just after a good solid bolt rifle I can hopefully shoot some small groups with. I reload for .223, hence this caliber.

a Remington 700 VSS (Varmin, Synthetic Stock) is hard not to recommend.
its cost effective and accurate and if you want to mod the hell out of it you can. They are $700 out of the box and accurate as hell. At 100 yards you can shoot the nails out of a target frame with the right glass. Speaking of the right glass, check out the SS 10x42 at SWFA. not the 10x42m, that is a slightly different scope.

^0o00o...niceeeeeee
