i just bled my brakes yesterday morning and the fluid in the right caliper was light yellow, but the fluid in the left caliper was significantly darker... in fact parts of it looked brown / black. does that mean anything?

probably means someone bled half the brakes a long time ago, and the other half hasn't been bled in even longer.

I thought this was going to be one of those change the fluid when it changes colors kind of a thread. I'm disappointed :(

My urine stream was bright yellow yesterday, so I referred to a BARF fluid color thread, flushed my system with Pabst Blue Ribbon, and it worked! Clear as water! :thumbup

Odd. Might wanna get that checked out. Running cheap fluid tends to darken the resulting fluid that is purged. :laughing

I heard the color change happens when water gets in the system.. no? :confused

all brake fluid will be different kinds of urine colors, just make sure if you have black specs in it, change it out and if it doesnt come back alive, seek further professional treatment!! lol Rock Oil is the clearest stuff and motul gets yellow like after a few beers!

Check it again soon, or use an infared thermometer to check brake disk temp after riding it. It's probably what everyone else said it was, but you could have piston in one of the calipers hanging up.

LOL im diggn the smurf pee, reminds me of a 711 blueberry thunder slurpee!

Never diagnose mechanical problems when your drinking PBR.. You might puke on your tools. :laughing

IIRC, you chased my good Bourbon with a few PBRs one night. :laughing

Weak. The whole point of slugging PBR on the ranch and out on playa is to stay cool and buzzed. Can't ever say I've been near sick on the stuff. It's not the worst beer out there on a hot day, and when working at 4k feet and 100 degrees in the Black Rock Desert, I'd wager a Lagunitas Lil Sumpin' would make you puke a lot harder than good ole PBR. :barf
