Berlusconi was found guilty of paying for sex with an underage prostitute and of abusing his office. He was sentenced to seven years in prison, one more year than had been requested by the prosecution, and banned from public office for life. Although facing a custodial sentence, if Berlusconi appeals the sentence as expected, it will not be executed until after the appeals process. In the trial, the prosecution claimed that Berlusconi had paid over 4.5 million euros in total for El Mahroug's services.

I lived in the Tenderloin for years, and oddly enough, I never saw a hooker that looked like that. Man or woman. OK, there were a couple of guys that looked a little like that...:laughing

Berlusconi is a clown. Unfortunately, he will appeal (as he always does), and Italy's strange statute of limitations laws and slow appeal process seem likely to ensure that he doesn't actually spend time in jail.

Hopefully he will at least become irrelevant. Italy needs some serious leadership at the moment.
