I have a house in Auburn, and my 1971 BMW R75/5 is there right now. I purchased that bike new in May of 1971 at Menlo Cycles in Menlo Park.

I can wait until September and then meet some of you on my BMW. BTW, there are a lot of nice riding areas in the Auburn area.

Hedge your bets.

I'm sure AI could give us an advanced equation, possibly with graphs or pie charts on how many bikes should be brought...

- # of bikes available that can be brought (N)
- age of bikes in years (A)
- miles to be ridden (M)
- competency of rider to make needed on-ride repairs (C)
- Murphy's law (M)
- distance from cell service or a tow truck (d)
- fuck it factor (f)

Sick!

Some people's ability to preserve patina and originality astounds me.

I have too many cans of Krylon on the shelf to leave things alone

Chance favors the prepared! More pics pleeze!

some flame-outs, today … Mr Danny with his round-case Ducati and the trouble-truck:

and Mr Dave with his ‘73 Bonneville:

he’s pulling the spark plug … we have spark and gas. a citizen in front of where we broke down loaned us the appropriate spark plug wrench. yay. but the spark plugs looked fine. boo. :laughing

:facepalm

the drill was my ‘73 Tiger was a flame-out, my ‘85 Harley was in the shop, the ‘88 BMW refused to start, so it was the ol’ warhorse ‘00 KLR that allowed me to make my total-loser appearance for this rally at all. :rolleyes :laughing

oh well … I maybe earned my cheater keep by riding sweep and hanging out with the various breakdowns. Cary was actually pressed into service picking up riders from the side of the road in the rental Tesla we got in order to bring Tess. never a dull moment on these vintage rallies. :ride :blah
