Can a computer controlled motor be lugged?

Let's say after 2020 model year, ride by wire, sensor on everything for your power modes and euro emissions.

Can you lug it?
Can you do any harm by low revs and open throttle?
Below RPM and above throttle opening, won't the computer nope out and wait for change?

I should add, not all FI bikes are "properly mapped" especially the early ones.

Lots of quirks, and a whole aftermarket of add on tuners to band aid them.

Try it on your bike and find out, you'll know

What would a properly mapped bike do if starting out in 5th? I guess it would die. Mine does OK in 2nd but I think it would lug if geared too high, especially on a steep hill. Do the properly mapped bikes kill the ignition instead of lug?

This statement is confusing to me. I've never ridden a bike that can unconditionally just "do that!"

If in the proper gear, all 15 or so bikes I've owned can do that, even a 1978 CB185.
