Thanks!!

LOL thanks luckett! But I work m-f in SF :) it's a little far after work. Oh yeah I'm open to any bike not just drz.

I would love to! but would I cry if I bought a drz after a ride on that thing? :) maint. Is so good on the drz. Could do ape maint but I'd worry like I worry about my rx7.

Well, then I could hook you up when I get back the following week. 525exc and DR650.

What bikes are you interested in?

And if you want to try a moderately modded DRZ, you are welcome to try mine out. I am still at stock displacement, but I do have a pipe/header, an FCR carb, re-worked suspension, and a few other little bits. I live close to Luckett, so we could all get together somewhere, perhaps.

you should prolly only test ride a DRZ if that's what you're stuck on getting. Apart from the 250 'tards, just bout every other motard has gobs more power than the DRZ and you'll regret ever riding one and then getting a DRZ. I'd let ya ride my Husky SMR510 but its power, brakes and weight are so much nicer than the DRZ that you'd ever wonder why you ever decided to ride a Husky or Ape or 530, 450, etc...
Just my $0.02.

I've had a DRZ and since gone to the Husq and LOVE it!

I too am considering a motard. i too have not ridden one, and I understand that once you do you need one of your own...

I am a big fan of ample power and light weight, hence my affinity for two strokes...

the Husky SMR510 rocks?

Bonerov- Thats for the offer! Damn the SM guys are really nice. I'd def like to take yours for a spin. I'd most likely upgrade quickly. PM'd

sparky80- You and I are on the same page. lol The biggest issue is the maint. schedules on SMs. For 3 years I owned a daily driver 3rd gen Rx7. Ape maint. would be cake walk compared to the Rx7. I am a 'do all the maint. perfectly cuz im too scare to have something go wrong type of guy'. My Rx7 ran perfectly because of that. I am looking to check the DRZ out then if I think I would need more power at least I have a baseline.

Yo...I Live in Newark. I have a 07 510. If you want to take it for a test ride that cool with me.....but you break it you buy it. :thumbup Shoot me a PM if you're interested....

I just replied to your PM. Stop by, take the bike for a spin, and stay for a brew or two (in that order, of course). As others have said, you break it, you buy it :)

:ride

The DRZ may not be the prettiest, flashiest, quickest thing out there, but it suits my needs very well, is easy to work on, and requires very little maintenance. That said, I'm tempted to ditch my Duc and pick up a Husky 610 or KTM 690 SMC. All I know is that I have no intention of getting rid of my fun lil' DRZ any time soon.

OK, if i came over and broke it, how much would I have to buy it for?
I always become an expert in some sort of vehicle after I buy one and have it for a while and then figger out what I really would have liked.

What does the husky weigh? what is the best year? what issues co they have? If I want minimal weight and real HP, this is the deal?

what about the husky 610, or the TE450?
I'm gonna sell my RZ and buy one of these...

Price of replacements and my hourly rate (90/Hr) to R&R the parts..:teeth

I believe the 07 510 is right around the 260 lb mark....08's Lost about 10lbs with the new frame.
Best year...that's all up to personal interpretation. 07 - Older carb'd
08-09 Fuel injected....super smooth once the power up kit is added.

450/510 = race bike with plate.
610 = Old guy Supermoto. :twofinger

610 is a good bike, heaver then a 450/510 but still tons of fun to ride. Only main issues I know of, are the cam chain ( believe its the older models) and the flywheel nut coming loose.....TE450 is dual sport version....just need a few things to convert over to SM trim....

You can pick up a low mile Husky SM450/510 for around $5k - $5500 used and these are basically street legal race bikes plus they require more maintenance. If you are going to us it for commuting get the Husky SM610 for around the same price. I personally bought a used '07 DRZ400SM w/ mods for $4k and used the money I saved from buying a Husky for 2 new helmets (Shoei Motard & FOX v2), Teknic racing gloves, and A* Tech2 boots plus added some more cool aftermarket stuff for my DRZ.

Rude1 :ride :thumbup :twofinger
