Can you bargain @ the BMW dealer?

You're thinking Ducati dealer... at the BMW shop it's "tied down and disciplined by Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS"

Sad statement on my depravity, but Ilsa would've closed the deal for me and I would be riding a GSA right now...

So stop being so defensive about your precious BMW's and realize that they are not perfect. I did all of my work too (at least what I could do). But I got sick of paying three times what i should for parts, waiting for weeks for them to arrive, and finding out I need to remove the engine in order to lube my chain.

Okay so now you're getting silly. I was poking holes in your arguments about how bad BMWs were by highlighting the parts where your motorcycle had nothing to do with your issues. A crash, a tip over, a missed broken part on an insurance claim, the expectation that you're going to get help unloading a bike...

Yes, BMW USA can be a bitch about their products, and dealers can be less than helpful (for the most part that's a blanket statement across all brands of motorcycles). It's sad that their behavior was such, and it truely doesn't do anyone any good when the service falls to such an unacceptable level.

Perhaps I came off as defensive... That wasn't my intention. It was to show that most of your problems weren't actually your bike. In fact it's probably still out there tearing it up under someone else's ass.

I was looking at one of these yesterday.

The sticker price (with all the goodies I want) was rather amazing. I am still reeling a bit.

The only good consideration was the 7 year unlimited mileage warranty.

I really do want one, but I have to do some more research to see if I will have to buy $5,000 dollars worth of tools to work on the darned thing as I don't buy anything I can't fix myself.

I hope I can deal.

I assume you saw it at Cycle Speciailties at their new location. John and his people are great and IMO go out of their way to make you a happy returning customer.

I remember reading a thread on another board about somebody who broke down up in the Sierras. The rider was from out of state and all he had was the BMWMOA Annonymous book. He called a number up who ended up being Dirk from CS. Dirk helped arrange the tow and motel room late on a Saturday night. Dirk waited at the dealership to accept the bike and get the rider to the motel.

I bought my RT there. They had a free catered seminar that went over maintenance. This was after I received a nice deal on the bike. I can't say enough about the place and people.

Yes that is where I saw it. I bought my current BMW there and since they have moved, they are less than 2 miles from my house making it all too easy to get my money. :laughing

They are good folks.

Bit of a shock to me when I saw the sticker price. Then, there's a commercial for a new Dodge 1500 quad cab pickup that was $1k less. Now, I'm not interested in either one, but geez...
