Cannibis use, whether smoked or eaten, linked to greater heart issues.

Full focus absolutely has it's place. I have never been stoned in a workplace. Ever. Not even for a bullshit high school job. I didn't start using cannabis until my 30's. It really didn't agree with me at ALL as a younger person. I was probably the only person at UCSC who didn't smoke. I dank like most kids my age did back then. I'm completely flipped now. I RARLEY drink anymore and if I do I stop at 1, I'm just trying to be polite and social. It simply doesn't agree me anymore.

I think it's hard for Americans to accept that not everything is, or can be, for everyone. That idea kinda flies in the face of how we think the sky is the limit and we can self determine our reality any way we want. I think the truth with substances and altered states of consciousness is messy and nuanced. Sometimes it's healthy and sometimes it not. Some things work for some people and don't for others. Some people are "normies" who can imbibe with no ill effects and some people have to be tea totalers or they spiral into oblivion.

Part of my bedrock belief system is that, if i have ANY freedom at all, I have the freedom to explore my consciousness how I see fit as long as I'm not doing harm to anyone else. That includes harm my actions might have on my family indirectly. It bugs me to dumb down the conversation and label people or things as "stupid." It just seems like a disservice to the topic in my book.
Been working in my field for 32 years. Been an all day every day cannabis user for... 32 years.

I don't know that I could do a corporate job without being a little bit stoned. The dumb would be overwhelming.

Yea, sometimes that happens. But your chances of getting lung cancer from smoking cigarettes is astronomically high.

I’ve worked stoned maybe a handful of times in my life, mostly while in my 1st career making teeth in a dental lab. It was almost non existent in my second career as an engineer.

I never felt the need to be stoned at work and preferred to do it when I could kick back and enjoy the stone.

Not super into the mary-ju-wanna. It's one of those things if I'm hanging out with friends and they ask me if I want a hit, I'll take a few. So maybe 4-5 times a year. Never bought any for myself.

Don't really mess with edibles. Every experience is too different and I like my mind altering states to be predictable.

OK so I overdid the fat and lazy stereotype :p although I have met more than my quota of the brain-dead version of users.
The point I should have stressed was that THC just doesn't work for me - I have used it and others I did the 70's properly and to the full extent  - I just never really understood the attraction. I guess I'm wired up differently.
I do strongly believe that smoking weed is no better than smoking tobacco with respect to lung damage though - the combustion products are practically the same in terms of free radicals, partially combusted cyclic organics and carbon monoxide inhaled.

Pack of cigarettes has almost half an ounce of plant fiber in it.

So even half a pack a day is a 1/4oz per day day.

Despite pot being legal I think a country full of stoners is a bad thing.
I don’t want my doctor stoned when he’s operating on me or my lawyer when he’s defending me or the pilot who’s flying the plane I’m on.

It's illegal for those people to be intoxicated while they're working, so what's the problem? They could just as easily be drunk :laughing

Parallels aren't exactly a thing around here. Too much thought elasticity required.

Weed being legal doesn't change any of that. Just because weed is legal doesn't mean it's legal to just be stoned all the time on your job.

You can get fired if you're caught drunk on the job. Every single drug known to man could be made legal and company policies requiring you to be sober while working still stand.

Indeed. I'm thankful every day that doctors, lawyers and pilots have never gotten high. :rolleyes

Some users adopt the sedentary lifestyle. Others dont.

My friends, all of them, are extremely productive, actively working (unless they are retired now) and being creative, inventing new products for the benefit of mankind. Being a stoner has had no effect on their creativeness and productivity.

The easy access to high THC cannabis in the youth cohort is very concerning. Several students end up ZOMBIFIED by over consuming extract with vape pens. Some kids end up with hyper emesis, which was not a thing before all these drug delivery systems became widespread and inexpensive. We also now know that exposure to advertising which is fairly common in urban areas with cannabis billboards dramatically increases acceptable use in teens. The only upside all this is that drinking has cratered. Being drunk and stupid has never been cool, but it is vanishingly rare at the parties my students attend.

California produces five times as much cannabis as it can consume, dramatically, lowering price per unit. Parents between 30 and 45 or so are very accepting of kids experimenting with what they consider a benign drug. It never was, and it still isn’t, but it presents a much greater threat to the psychological health of young people then it has in the past.

The number of drivers I encounter on my way home Lane sharing that are blowing out. Clouds of vape. Smoke is disturbing.

Except for certain occupations, I’m not aware of any laws that prohibit people working under the influence of anything. Though the corporate world does frown on it.

The stigma of linking weed to a sedentary unfulfilled lifestyle lessons every year. There was a lot of distilled negativity in the past few decades through aggressive marketing. Hell, they got me thinking it. Commercials, characters in TV/movies that were lazy losers, public opinion, etc. Until I got wiser and realized the guy that fitted me for contacts that day probably went home and lit one up.
