hi everybody, i have a question on whats the best carb cleaner to use to make my job easier, ive used one on a carb before forgot what brand name but it wasnt worth anything, i just reired from auto trans shop i owned for 32 years but never used carb stuff had different chemicals i used for trannys etc any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks, greg

Wonder if the good stuff was banned from California. Otherwise just the brand name stuff, like STP or Gumout would be good start.

I use Sea Foam. It's available at NAPA Auto Parts. One oz. per gallon of fuel in the tank -- supposedly helps clean out the jets and removes varnish buildup. Plus gives a slight octane boost (it's made of naphtha and pale oil). Also can be added to the oil -- the day before an oil change, add some via the filler hole, ride for about 30 miles, let sit overnight, then change the oil. Also supposedly can be used in place of Stabil.

berryman b9 if you are rebuilding a carb, if you just want a spray can b12

i like the carb cleaners that are low VOC formulas. they seem to be much easier on the rubber parts of bike carbs. i've seen people use "gum-out" carb cleaner on bikes and end up ordering float bowl gaskets because they deformed when the cleaner got onto them.
