Cars that make your jaw drop.

TRUE, learned to drive in a '54 Chevy pickup !!! I really miss my '72 C10 Cheyenne Stepside (black on black). I'd take it over the '68 - 427/400 Corvette convertible (red on black). Just something about a truck.

I've always had a weakness for old Chevy and GMC trucks.
The camper special is one I recently spotted at a show.
It has a 396 big block, so I had to ask the owner if he'd sell it.
The answer was a pretty quick "No!" Can't say I blame him.
The other truck was sitting behind a dentist's office in Healdsburg when I spotted it earlier this year.
I'm planning to go back and see if I can find out more about it.
Who knows, maybe it'll be for sale.
While we're on the subject, I recently picked up a '77 GMC Jimmy in Nevada City from the original owner for $3,000.
It's a 4-speed, runs and drives, and is pretty much all there.
I've already driven it around a bit. It has some rust and needs some work, but it's a solid project and I'm looking forward to bringing it back.
Just thought I'd share a few old trucks that have caught my attention lately.
You never know where the next project is hiding! 🚚

Chevy guy here, but I've always had respect for old Ford trucks.
This clean F100 belongs to a friend of mine, and I thought it was too nice not to share.
Great stance, nice paint, and a clean engine bay.
Ford definitely got it right with these old pickups.A cool old truck is a cool old truck, regardless of what's on the hood.
Hope the Ford crowd enjoys these photos…

Seriously! How did you find that for THAT cheap!

It was in my sister’s neighborhood in Nevada City ( Cement Hill )
The owner was asked by me after I saw it if he would sell it and we agreed on the 3K price.
Sweet deal for sure….
Never hurts to ask about cars for sale….

@PaulR

Bonus points for the KOME sticker on the back window of the 4 door Malibu :cool

KOME geez …..
I use to listen to the Dr. Demento music hour at midnight on Saturdays on that station?
We had a hard time getting it up here in the North Bay but it was fun.
We laugh all night long drink beer and have fun.
Reminds me when I was a kid.
The good old days…..

Thank you guys, most of it is luck and yes physics and trusting the car as with the weight set up it will go straight provided air in the tires is equal and nothing under one tire (oil/etc.). In that picture it was about the 10th pass on a new Aluminum block 572" wedge that I had just installed so quite a bit more torque then the previous 505" high compression race gas motor and about 100 lbs less weight than I had previosly ran. It was almost on the rear valance when I left and started coming down at a controlled rate but when it hit 2nd gear it came back up again and ran about 300' out before coming back down. It was an elimination round so I road it out, you don't want to lift unless not going straight as you risk hurting the chassis. After that run which I lost I went home and installed wheelie bars and also a MSD Grid ignition system. That Grid ignition is amazing in that you can tune the car with a laptop and take ignition timing out of it to soften the hit. I take about 12* degrees of timing out and ramp it back in in about 1.5 seconds so it really is effectice traction control and keeps the 60' times consistent. I added it to our road runner as well as it's running on 9" drag radials. Basiclly it takes about 3/10's out of the performance (9.33 instead of 9.03) but what you gain on consistency is huge. So the wheelie's are just part of the chassis set up and typically consistent given equal track prep.

Here's some old bad footage aftre the wheelie bars/Grid:

And the Road Runner, same motor but muffled and old paint at Sacramento Raceway:

Sears point bracket race loss:

Thanks for sharing those videos.
Those cars are awesome both of them. (Question does Can-Am machine work your engines)
Just watched a video from Sacramento Raceway and it hit me harder than I expected. It brought back memories of the last Governor's Cup and the last night I was ever there. Losing that track felt like losing a piece of home. So many great memories, so many great people. Gone, but never forgotten.
