Cheating?? How do you get DQ in SBK??

Is RC both the tuner and builder?

No. KC only tuned Jose's motor on the dyno. I don't know who built it (Pat Ho?).

FWIW, KC wasn't at Miller, but he seems pretty certain that Jose was on his 600 at Miller... because the 750 was in his shop in Pacheco. Of course, maybe that 750 is just so damned fast it can bend time and space and be two places at once. :teeth

So what are all these people who came to the rider/tuners defense going to say if it becomes public they were cheating running a 750 in a 600?

Blame it on Zombies

:laughing

Can't say ive ever heard or seen someone stuffing a 750 into a 600 frame to race the 750 class...ZOMBIES:laughing

Use logic. If you already have 750 in 600 to cheat why not race in 750 with rest of 600's. :laughing

Good tuner (if you want to separate those two) will know if bike power is matching size of engine. However he may not know what bike is used for.;)

Exactly. KC didn't put the entry in. The rider did. The rider runs the bike in a class. Cheating really comes down to the rider. I know exactly what both my bikes had done to the tee... Legal prod bikes can still run very strong. Decked head, freed up air flow, race fuel, electronics and a good map. Good power there!

Yes. That's why decking the head is ok. Alot of people drop cams in but that's a no no on a prod legal build. You also have to be careful on how you allow the air flow to breathe. There's legal things and not legal things that can be done. I'll leave it at that. Don't want to drop any engine build secrets!! :teeth

The way I read the rules you can't port the heads either. I am confused about head gasket and shaving head for compression though.....

Production is really not even close to its name.

you cannot port in production, no

you are allowed to "machine gasketed surfaces", which mean you can skim the heads, which bumps up the compression. head surfacing (skimming) is allowed because it often must be done to get a good seal n a head, mostly if its warped a little bit.

You can deck heads, cut down cylinders, recess valve seats by cutting them, use a thinner head gasket and use adjustable sprockets on the cams. Those things are good for real HP. Well the valve seat thing is done to prevent valves from hitting pistons when a lot of decking and cutting is done. However much you change the relationship of the face of the piston to the face of the head is limited by squish. At a certain point pistons hit the head. That's also about all you can do. You can't change the interior of the combustion chamber except to clean it. You can't change the piston. You can't change the valves. You can't change the bore or stroke.

Squish varies from motor to motor. I went through three motors verifying how much I could change it for the SV.

Alrighty I'm done beating this dead horse. I just want to go ride. See you all at the track. :thumbup

If the racer in question was caught cheating, does that necessarily implicate the tuner?

He would have known that it was a 750 on the dyno. Did he look at the frame? Did he know what class it would be run in? Everyone says that Jose has a 600 and 750, even if he noticed the 600 frame that would still be legal in 750SBK and F1, wouldn't it?

I'm not out to defend KC (I don't know the guy) but I think it's unfair to blame him for Jose's actions. It wasn't his decision to enter that bike in a given class. KC's decision to come here and try to give it back to Dorn was probably a bad idea, though. Guys like Eric are best left to themselves, they eventually wear out their welcome in a crowd.

Yeah, Dorn uses the wrong correction factor in his dyno and it inflates his HP numbers. Cheater!

Not true. The rider could have asked for a certain legal build but then the builder did something illegal to it without informing the rider.
