Ahhhh!!! Memories of Hwy 108. Thanks.

Again we are trully blessed in California to have fine roads like these. We in turn will be venturing out North again and of course will accomodate some visual logging for your entertainment.

Mission: To find a road that's not in Pashnit.com that would connect to a good destination. The more of a goat trial, the better...

Ya mean there's a road you know of that's not on my site? :shhh Actually there are quite a few, especially over in that area. I have ridden many of them one at at time, but don't have pages for a bunch of the backroads east of Hwy 49 and south of Hwy 120.

Cherry Lake Road to Cherry Lake Reservoir is a great little cowtrail. You didn't say if you took Cottonwood Road back over to Toulemne ? Did ya? :confused

Mile count: 668.5 miles! That along with last weekend's 3 day ride where I clocked 1200 odd miles

So I'm not the only one that does stuff like this on a sportbike! Looks like a great solo ride through some of the greatest roads!! :cool

I actually planned on doing Wentworth springs rd also yesterday, but sanity & desire to do 108 tookover after cherry lake :)

Yep. But I took Yosemite rd to Buchanan rd from Wards Ferry... WF rd is a really fun goat trail that opens up a bit @ Yosemite rd...funny thing, there is a board that says, "road not maitained after this point" on Buchanan - but the road had a lot less gravel after that point!

So I'm not the only one that does stuff like this on a sportbike!

Ya! but you are the one who does it a lot :laughing

It sure was! Thanks again for maintaining one of the best websites :thumbup

I've ridden that batch of roads- Jacksonville Rd, Lime Kiln Rd, and Wards Ferry Rd- I may have some pics somewhere. Hard to know what's paved, and just a one-lane trail until you actually get out there.

I had orginally planned on doing a page for the Greely Hill Rd (Hwy 132) - Smith Flat combo but was so dissapointed by Greely Hill Road, I skipped it. Don't know if you tried that one.

Yes, yes, I know, I have done many, many dawn to dusk non-stop rides like this plowing through numerous rolls of film along the way. Nothing quite like seeing that much scenery all in one day!;)

Not yet. 132 after La Grange to 49 junction is not that bad. Ok, not as good as 108/89/4 but better than 132 before La Grange :)

amen to that! If not for that, I don't think I could stand the heat through central valley...

eh Snap, this is sort of changing the subject a little (sorry Rags ;) )- but check out this pic sent to me by Glen El-Hayek ofWentworth Springs Road

!

I was in that neck of the woods a few weeks ago on my CBR.

I do a lot of sport-touring on my F4 (I rode here on it from Michigan via Florida) and to get more for your money you gotta go with a sport-touring tire. I have on Metzeler's Z 4 on the rear and an M1 in the front. I have put about 3000 miles worth of trips on them so far and they look like new. They behave very good.

Thanks for the pointer! I have also heard good things about bt010/bt020 combo. Have you tried them? Which one do you prefer?

I am not that hard on the tires though - my first pair of pilots were replaced at 9k miles...

You should see anywhere between 7k and 9k worth of sport-touring pace on BT10 and BT12 combo. Changing from MEZ4, the 10/12 combo quickened the steering on my VFR. The treads wear out at the same pace front and back. Things only get a bit interesting in the corners around 7k. I am guessing that you should see 9k given that F4i is about 120 lbs. lighter than a VFR.

I have run the BT010/020 for two sets of tires. Currently on a 010 rear.

On my bike, which is quite heavy and torquey, and me on board (also quite heavy ;) ) I have gotten 6000 miles or so per set.
The current 010 has maybe 1500 miles on it, and probably wont be much good after my own yosemite trip.
