chinese fossils may be a new human species

now a question: what is the actual definition of "species"? My question is, how when finding a single or very few examples of a fossil creature, they determine that the being is a distinct species and not just a mutation or possibly even being a "mule"?

Back in my school days the definition we were given in Bio was that a species was a group that could produce viable offspring. So all dogs are a species, but horses and donkeys, which can produce infertile offspring, are not.

The definition seems to have changed.

In my Bio class last summer the professor claimed that if the two groups *don't* interbreed, even if they *could*, that they are different species.

So it may well have changed.

I have now officially lived so long as to have my crackpot theory of some non-African origin of Asian people at least partly validated. I always got the linkage of African origins for Caucasian (bodies just aren't that different), but I never could swallow the amount of differences in body types etc as more variation of the same. Too funny. On a side note, I always wondered about pygmies too. We just accept the African origin theory because of fossil finds. But other areas of the earth seem harder to get fossils out of due to vegetation, weather. etc etc. I think this is really interesting....

But isn't there a theory of some cataclysm causing a reduction in human diversity or have I been watchin' too much "History" Channel stuff....
Hint: It is impossible for the African people and the Asian people to not have a common ancestor. DNA doesn't lie.

This does not explain my sasquatchian ass hair.

actually asians dont share the same dna

japanese and koreans have similar dna traits and close to mongolians
whereas chinese have the same as africans

Is that why the dog in mongolian BBQ is cooked different than the dog in Korean BBQ?

This statement is misleading, all humans as of what we know right now share 99.9 percent of the same DNA, and every human is genetically related to Africans.....you say Japanese and Koreans have similar dna traits close to Mongolians, then where did the Mongolians originate from? The Chinese?

Seriously. The whole concept of, "Race," is a bunch of fucking garbage with a political agenda most recently rooted in the ideas brought forth by Nazi eugenicists in the 30's and 40's. We're all the same pile of stinking human garbage with very slight variations adapted to climate.
