CHP tows my locked/covered track bike from OAKLAND SIDEWALK

Higher on the street because we're wearing hot clothes, little ventilation, and want to get our transactions over soon so we can cool off. :thumbup :teeth

Yup, totally off base because I would rather have cops peruse real crimes, IN OAKLAND, yeahhh, lets go with that :rofl

back to hi fiving and more donuts :ride

you can thank the voters and city council for your PD response times in oakland. the CHP doesn't handle calls for service in the city, so i don't see the correlation between OPD responding after 2 hours and a chippie towing your shit.

you wanna hi five and grab a donut with me?

I hear almost as much bitching from people on BARF than I do on the street. ALMOST.

this.

I believe it is 4 years before it is dropped unless there is something keeping the registration open like unpaid tickets or uncompleted transfer.

Register Vehicles With No DMV Record

Vehicles without DMV records

If your vehicle is titled in California, but has not been registered for four years or more, it may no longer have a record in DMV’s computer. Even if you still have paper documentation on the vehicle, a computer record must be reestablished.

It's tough for me to always think back to the "this is a special place" thread before I type when you post stuff like this.

Stuff like my feelings about this section?

I've never acted like nor am I one of the more helpful LEOs on this forum. Sure, every once in a while I'll give some quick advice but for the most part I don't like taking part in the "I got a ticket I deserved but I need a way to fight it so I don't have to face the consequences of my actions" threads because it just turns into a shit show like this one.

God I wish, mine was going on 8, but no such look, I did catch a break with the DMV though

How fast did they throw that brake at you? Oh, you meant 'break'... [/spelling&grammar-nazi]

Never said I never deserved a ticket, you wouldn't hear from me if I didn't get towed, but if yall feel the punishment fit this crime in this case . . . (I must then resit permaban, and just feel sorry you)

I've had good luck and fair breaks from most of you, on the road, being honest and accountable, more often then not :thumbup

but this was just beyond uncharted territory :mad

Not uncharted at all. Completely right and proper per the VC. You just didn't agree with it.

Your incident was entirely predictable.

HOW you take what happened is up to you. If you think you deserve a permaban, then let it all hang out, vent every bit of your spleen, and have a nice va-cay. :thumbup

Nope, just gonna feel sorry for the meter maid crew and still urge them to consider perusing worse bad guys, crimes and adventures :ride

and more importantly thank the few who responded more or even slightly emphatically :thumbup

*pursuing, BTW

And I seriously doubt you'll ever see a meter maid hunting down bad guys, crimes, or sundry adventures. :laughing

eyethere that went over your head, or you're crossing fingers hoping I put my foot in me mouth

either way, stay classy sir!

I just don't get how it was easier to take the time to put a cover on it and a giant lock around it and a post.. than to just move it inside?

I mean I would assume if you bought a track bike without a plate that you had some way of storing it besides the sidewalk.

Yep, unregistered bike illegally parked on a sidewalk chained to a city light fixture, what the fuck was the cop thinking?

I guess the real problem here is not what you did but that you didn't get a "clearly deserved) break from an officer who followed procedure once he found out the bike was unregistered. Again, I suspect he stopped because he saw an easy ticket. No plate meant he had to run the VIN. VIN said unregistered for 8 years. THE LAW is to tow anything unregistered over 6 months. Do you really not get this yet? There was no break he could have given you. He couldn't just write you a ticket because the bike had no plate, not to mention that it's not even in your name.

22651 (o) (1) When a vehicle is found or operated upon a highway, public
land, or an offstreet parking facility under the following
circumstances:

(A) With a registration expiration date in excess of six months
before the date it is found
or operated on the highway, public lands,
or the offstreet parking facility.

And for the purposes of the vehicle code, "highway" is ANY publicly maintained street or road in the state.

Having a recent fatal moto crash to deal with I would tow the trackbike as well. No need for trackbikes to be on the street. Parked in public tells me it'll be used on the street. Gal had track experience and years of riding motos but still rode without gear into the back of a parked car.

Keep it on the track. Luke, your a good man but causing issues that LEOs are forced to deal with (or be blamed for not doing their job) doesn't help. Thankless job.

wife, gf, towed bike?

mmmmmhhmmm, yes, I see now, all makes sense ! ! !

yet this efffin gem is half a block away, probably 50 years of back reg, or none at all? and most likely some sort of hazzard, at least my bike didn't have a flat, sooooo

at least you all (those with less stuff for brains I should say) can see how my expectation that shit gets randomly towed or ticket around here was a little off :twofinger

and yes, reg fees hurt, but previous owner is beyond stand up and helpful and has offered help

tow co, not so much, storage fees $$$$$$

and for this I blame hot new GF, if I wasn't so smitten (or gone without any for past few months) maybe I would have noticed the " wife " was missing when I dropped in over the weekend instead of last night.

Ok I am f*cking lost here. What does a GF and wife and not getting any have to do with this towed bike?

gf = actual, yes hawt, not a blow up, pinky swear GF, wife = track-bike and the rest is self deprecating humor of the worst kind :twofinger
