Upgrade from my 4s to a 6s. I would backup my 4s maybe five-six times a year on my computer. It was the 16gb model so I'd routinely have to delete photos to get more space. Maybe only half a dozen albums, not many apps.

I went with the 64gb 6s to play it safe. Figures photos would be bigger, more movies and last 3 years.

Debating about cloud storage for backing up and finally utilize a cloud photo system. I am a macbook, ipad and iphone user. Looking to see what cloud storage is better.

Apple cut price on theirs. It's $12 a year for 50gb a month. I use gmail so my email wont take up any space.

I use the Notes app a lot for movie ideas and funny material, cant ever lose those.

My 5s is going on 2 years and it's still in great shape, I just took the screen protector off to swap it out with a new one and it still looks and operates like brand new. My 4s was also in great shape at 2 years, until I busted it up to a million pieces in a drunken stupor. :dunno

u dont need to have iCloud storage space for the entire phone to hold a backup. i filled a 32GB 5S and it only took 3.3GB to backup to iCloud. email and notes wont take much space. just turn it on and see how u do. could be free.

I tried the iCloud thing and only got problems with their key passcode that kept popping up. Had to call support and best resolution was not use iCloud

iCloud or Google Drive or both.

I can't deal with slow software and apps that outdate and no longer load

anything 2 full versions out lacks support

it's a software issue for me, not hardware

:2cents

I got rid of my 4 for the 6 because of just this.

^ yep. my company has managed to convince all our clients to stop supporting iOS versions after 2 years. so now that iOS9 is out, we can FINALLY ditch iOS7. hooray!

however, iOS9 shares the compatibility of iOS8. so im sure they'll still be plenty of ppl holding onto the iPhone4S even though its 4yrs old now.

interesting

Everything I've read says the 5s will be a 4+ year phone hardware wise. It's got the same functional speed of the 6 just lower battery performance.

There were plenty apps I couldnt install because I wouldnt update the software. I knew the 4s would be a total sloth if I did.

Damn CraigsPro app I bought on my 4s that allowed to saved searches and things stop being supported.....I now have to purchase the new one for another $3. Bullshit!

I found a new free Craigslist app.

whered u read that? they dont share any of the same processors. the biggest difference that everyone should notice is how much faster the camera is, even from 5s to 6.

i wonder if Apple will continue to sell the 5s next year when the 7 comes out. iOS10 will def be supported on it. but i cant imagine theyd make much money selling it an even cheaper price than now, 2yr contract or not.

iOS9 is running faster than iOS7 on one of my old iPads. iOS8 was a turd for sure.

if you have all your devices connected to your iTunes account, u shouldnt have to pay for upgrades for apps or even to download the same app on another devices. they are skirting Apples rules somehow if u are.

note, I didn't say processor speed ;)

to the average end user, how it operates in my hand is very different than spec speeds

iPhone 6: 64-bit Apple A8 dual-core, 1GB RAM, M8 co-processor

iPhone 5S: 64-bit Apple A7 dual-core , 1GB RAM, M7 co-processor

As you’d expect, the newer iPhone 6 ups the internal specs in almost every way. The processor has been increased from the A7 to the A8, though it remains dual-core and the quad-core graphics have the pushed from a PowerVR G6430 to a PowerVR GX6450 CPU.

The motion co-processor has also been beefed up, moving from the M7 to the M8 and it now, amongst other things, calculates how many flights of stairs you traverse every day. It’s a neat trick, but probably not one to update solely for.

Swiping through menus, scrolling websites and playing even the most graphically games intense are all done with ease on 64-bit processors of both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S, though as time passes we expect to see more apps and updates from Apple to take advantage of the extra speed produced by that A8 chip.

i guess thats the issue, im not an avg user. i noticed performance differences right away. sometimes i have the pleasure of developing a performance-intense app. sometimes new phones make difficult engineering problems just go away :laughing. thnx for the links.

Out of curiosity, what are you doing on your pain that you notice drastic speed differences? Are you a developer?

I text 90% and use the browser. Maybe an app here or there but those are over wifi. Only difference from the 4s I see is the speed in the voice dictation. If I had a 5 or 5s i don't think I'd notice much other than size.
