This was the subject of debate on KNBR today. John Lund and crew were denouncing candy corn and attempting to couch this candy as The Worst.

No. It's like little nuggets of cake icing. And if you can find them, some have a band of chocolate. Extra good. Yes, they are pure sugar. So is cake icing. Kids will eat the top of a Hostess Cupcake and toss the cake. Candy corn is not for adults. It's for the children and the young at heart...

or tongue. ;)

No? As in you do not like candy corn? May I ask the conditions of your taste buds?
Let me share my perspective on what foods are acceptable. Wrote this for the softball forum I frequent. Perhaps it will convey my frame of reference...

This public service message is for the faint of tongue. All others may precede at their own risk. Originally crafted for visitors to the NCAA WCWS-LSU regional, it could be useful to those attending ULL and other 'hot' spots representing the top 16 seeds.

Advice for those attempting to experience Cajun cook'n...

When they offer to serve you up a plate from a steam pot, some jambalaya, a turducken or something from a paper-covered picnic table, cut thru the mumbo jumbo and ask these three questions-

1) Do you drink a hot cup of coffee every morning?
2) Do you smoke?
3) Do you put that shit on everything? (I'm talking hot sauce.)

If the answers are to the affirmative, the person dishing you up has ditched their tastebuds long ago. When they say,

"Why this is mild, you can handle it."

Don't believe that tongue. It has no feeling for food, drink or you. Just say no.

PS-Baton Rouge translates to Red Stick. It's referring to your tongue.

The response to candy corn is simply, "no".

It deserves no further deliberation or explanation.

I've already said too much

This year for Halloween I gave out plastic cockroaches a day early . . . to adults.

I'm the guy who likes to lay time bombs.

The next three days after Halloween will be filled with great stories about how little pieces of plastic turned adults into pre-adolescents in public spaces.
